Thats options for me

Can you explain this to me, currently only selling covered calls and will be doing covered puts once my application is updated.

you can trade contracts before expiration. It's basically a game of hot potato from what I can see, depending on what is happening to the price as the dates get closer. Honestly this scares me as a newbie

Today is a HODL day.  Market reacting to shitty world politics news.  Go fishing, or play a game at your computer instead of watching the markets.

Or of course, maybe a buying day as well.

Somebody page Dickface, we need a boost.

Of course he'll blame everything on MVIS...even though the entire LiDAR sector is deep red like the broader market.

SENS is holding pretty strong at $3
DPLS is approaching a buy in
WISH is tempting me
AMC is up on a down day
Time for poor decisions and regret

I think it was me that triggered him last time. I believe I said something along the lines of next month people will be kicking themselves on the ass for not buying while it's still discounted so....

Next month people will be kicking themselves in the ass next month when they realize they could of gotten more mvis while its at $13.xx.

I’m going to hold off from selling calls today, unless some of this red shit blows over.

Monday morning market blues from the news of Biden’s latest mistake sure isn’t good for call selling premiums.  Maybe I’ll sell a couple more puts today, premiums are nice on those.

If the market is still red tomorrow, I’ll sell my weekly calls anyway...something is better than nothing.

KaiK, I received $3.36 per share for selling MVIS 9/10 @ $16.50 strike puts.  I’ll buy back the 8/20 leg once/if the market improves today.  Definitely sometime before expiration.

A full explanation involves derivative value and theta burn down. For me it is a chance to profit on the stock going up but not owning the stock.
Expiration of the contract can be soon, sometimes the same day, or long 6 months to a year or more (leaps). it just depends on if you're feeling lucky.

Kaik was killing SPY calls and puts, I tried and was smacked around pretty good. Real world lessons are never cheap.
I believe his instructions were to watch some youtube videos and be prepared to lose about $7k, then you will understand options.

Did the same, bought 300 wish at $6.90 and turned around and sold 3 contracts.  8/20 @ $7.00 strike.  .31 cents a share, netted $90 on the premium after transaction fee.

Got that I've been learning all this with real money!  Best part though was the chunk I've been learning with is all MVIS gains, originally bought in at $0.68.
Biggest mistake (most costly) I've made was not buying enough MVIS back then.. LOL.  Hindsight and all that!

I better do some video watching this evening then!

Options are contracts for you to sell or buy and are on first blush simple yet after looking get more complicated.
Easiest for me is to:
Sell a Put contract on a stock I want to own/buy (MVIS) at a price I want to pay.
                                       OR
Sell a Call contract on shares of a stock I want to sell at a price I want to receive.

I will on occasion buy calls but never to own shares, only to trade out if the price of the contract goes up.

Thats options for me

Except that the value of contracts go to zero more often than the value of stocks.

Slowly lowering my cost average as well. 586 shares @ $15.47.

Have a limit buy for $13.50 here, though in the long run I guess it doesn't matter if it's $13.50 or $13.70 or $13.90.

Bought PSFE, WISH, more ME, more TPST, more SNDL (no idea why but have been picking up 100 sh increments as it drops), and sold puts on MVIS, ME, and PSFE.

Edit: since I'm a glutton for punishment, finally bought back my 8/20 BSQR calls and put in an order for 200 more shares. Want to partially sell CCs on this and save some shares for the next run up, which hopefully isn't too far away.
