What is the traditional thoracic dress when wearing a kilt? Is an ordinary plaid shirt ok, or what?

I have that exact same painting on a 36" dreamcatcher I bought at a truckstop in Kalispell. My 'rents have it hung in their guest room.

Yes!
Own that kilt with a three wolf shirt.

Zakk Wylde has been rocking one lately.

He goes with the motorcycle vest and sleeveless shirt it seems.

You wear a blouse with a skirt...

Id guess a traditionalist look would be a jacobite shirt.

This is what you wear to complement a halberd.

The weapon that goes with a kilt is the basket hilted claymore.

And just like that you’ve changed the mind of a lifelong kilt hater. But only if they’re muscular and up on a stage or pedestal of some kind.

Shirt doesn't matter as long as you wear that hat in your avatar.

Doesn't much matter, so long as the wearer's purse matches.

Regimental jacket, belt, bandolier, scarf, dirk, and broadsword, i.e., ceremonial dress uniform, when and only when required.

Otherwise pants are a hell of a lot more useful.

More importantly, wear something, anything, under the kilt.  Please. For the love of all that's holy.

I have a claymore, not basket hilted, with a lead weighted pommel. But I can't figure how to use it, because it's not labeled for which side towards the enemy.

I’ve been wearing my “Cleverlys Squirrel Hunt Benefit” shirt. Proceeds are donated to Save the Whales. Their motto is “Kill a squirrel, save a whale”.

You can kinda see it in this pic a friendly Arfcommer took of me:

Just because I live in the west doesn't mean I'm a cowboy, but I did see "Urban Cowboy" and know that assless chaps are gay.

Big world, room for everybody, even guys (?) who wear Catholic schoolgirl clothes.   In fact, I am sure there are websites devoted to just that.

OP, Let your freak flag fly!

No expense spared there... Im predicting you'll be disappointed.

As for above, a tshirt, a collared shirt, a sweater, tweed kilt cut jacket, regulation doublet, kenmore, prince charlie, etc etc etc... Depend on your occasion.

Be more specific.

On what occasion?

How formal?

In what century? (Most of what you see on television, and in films, is complete ignorance.)

WTF is an "ordinary plaid shirt?"

Are you asking to wear today, or to recreate some historical episode?   (It makes a huge difference.)
