I have taken a couple piss tests since I have been on Kratom and have never came up hot, YMMV.

Why would someone use Kratom over say CBD.

CBD isn't/can't be addictive whereas it seems in some cases, Kratom is.

Both have pain relief affects, and there is no tolerance build up to CBD.

Interested as to the real world differences between the two

This is just my experience but I was using cbd oil where you put a dropper or two underneath your tongue. Did not do a stinking thing for me and was really expensive. I’ve heard of several people that had really good luck with it but for a lot of people nothing.

I’ve never used Kratom so can’t comment on that.

The SO and I both take it. She has very bad back problems and my neck was screwed up in a car accident years ago. I have been to chiropractors, joint specialists, surgeons, pain specialists, etc., and had some of my pain nerves purposively destroyed through surgery, undergone physical therapy, gotten shots for arthritis type pain, taken opiates, etc.

The only things I can really recommend are the surgery to kill the nerves causing part of the pain (they zap them with electricity burning them), regular exercise, Stopain (topical pain spray that works) and Kratom. Kratom could be called habit forming but nothing like Opiates, it's very mild, all natural and has no narcotics in it. But it does act on the Opioid receptor in your brain which lessens your perceived pain. The side effects are minimal, I feel much healthier than I did on pain medicine and it actually seems more effective.

If the government got out of the way and stopped the propaganda and interventions designed to stop kratom over half of this country would eventually switch from narcotics to this natural alternative (which Big Med and Big Pharma DO NOT WANT). But Big Pharma has finished trials for synthetic pill versions of Kratom so .GOV (FDA/DEA) has been pushing to ban it through deceptive fear tactics.

If I were new to it I would try a red vein strain, take half a teaspoon to a teaspoon and wait 45 minutes. If needed they can take a little more, if someone takes too much they'll just get nauseous & sleepy. It can give you a mild buzz but nothing like narcotics and you don't feel hungover or like you've poisoned your body. The SO swears by it for PMS Cramps.

So there are strains that relieve pain and strains that increase energy.

Can one use them both together?
View Quote
Yep. A lot of the of the red, green, white is BS. I watched a video where an importer revealed that there are actually only two strain colors, Red and Green, the White is actually premature Red. At lower doses Kratom is energizing, at higher doses it is more sedating. Same drug, effects depends on dosage. So the White, Green and Red are actually how potent the Kratom is, red being the strongest. You can save money and just take less red Kratom. People compare the energy to "feeling like you had too much coffee"

ETA: Kratom is actually related to the coffee plant.

kratomcrazy does but there's a 5% charge.

The CC companies are doing the gun ban thing with it.

Has there ever been a statement from a CC company on why they won't allow Kratom sales? It's not illegal for crying out loud.

I've never used it, though several people at work do for back and joint pain. It seems to work well for them. Both of them became interested in it to get off of prescription stuff... we're in Missouri, and their families were putting forth, let's just say, "tremendous effort" to relieve them of their pills. Sad.

Would the white strains work as a pre workout? ~edit~ Nevermind, just read the post above.

I asked our drug prevention coordinator aka..the piss test lady about Kratom just yesterday and she said it's a no-go for active duty, but civilians are highly advise not to take it because it's considered an opiate and completely unregulated at this time.

Not exactly sure I agree with her and she couldn't provide a reference, but maybe something to consider if you are active duty.

I'm seriously considering trying it myself.

My little brother is a licensed Pharmacist. He's researched the Kratom white papers (Pharmaceutical research on Kratom). Kratom is not an opiate, opiates are derived from opium. Kratom DOES act on the Opioid receptors in your brain which Opiates act on so it does have some of the similar benefits. Kratom is labeled an Opioid by the FDA  but it does not qualify for that categorization. 44 of the people who died from OD'ing on a combination of drugs since 2011 had Kratom in their system, this is the FDA's "evidence" that Kratom needs to be banned.

Opiate

Classically, the term opiate refers to natural substances that come from opium. Opium itself can be extracted from the opium poppy and contains chemical compounds, including morphine and codeine. Thus, examples of opiates are morphine and codeine.

Opioids

There are also products that work by binding to the same receptors as opiates, but do not occur naturally, known as semi-synthetic or synthetic opioids. While synthetic opioids are manufactured chemically, semi-synthetic opioids are a hybrid resulting from chemical modifications to natural opiates.

Examples of synthetic opioids include fentanyl and methadone, while oxycodone and hydrocodone are examples of semi-synthetic opioids.
-OR-

Opiates are drugs derived from opium. At one time "opioids" referred to synthetic opiates only (drugs created to emulate opium, however different chemically). Now the term Opioid is used for the entire family of opiates including natural, synthetic and semi-synthetic. Medical professionals use the word opioid to refer to most opioids, and opiate for a specific non-synthetic opioid; however, many only use “opioid”. Consistent with the newest definition, this website uses “opioid” to refer to all opioids and opiates.

An opioid is any agent that binds to opioid receptors(protein molecules located on the membranes of some nerve cells) found principally in the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract, and elicits a response. There are four broad classes of opioids:

Endogenous opioid, naturally produced in the body, endorphins
Opium alkaloids, such as morphine and codeine
Semi-synthetic opioids such as heroin, oxycodone, and Buprenorphine
Fully synthetic opioids, such as methadone, that have structures unrelated to the opium alkaloids
He pointed out that the research results were outstanding and that since it's side effects, potential for addiction and mild withdrawal symptoms were so much milder than prescription narcotics he couldn't understand .GOV's push to ban it. Until he discovered that clinical testing for synthetic, pharmaceutical versions had been in underway for 5-6 years and were expected to hit the market soon. Who is going to go to a doctor and pay huge amounts of money for synthetic drugs when the natural alternative is much cheaper and readily available? How many people would be glad to set prescription painkillers aside and take a safer, natural alternative? How much money would this cost the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries?

So "suddenly" the FDA/DEA becomes extremely concerned that some of the people who ended up in the ER from OD'ing on multiple combinations of drugs had Kratom in their system in addition to all of the other drugs. "Suddenly" they decide, "it must be Kratom, it's bad, it should be banned".

Ehem.

This is my take.

It has a long track record of being a good pain reviler with stimulant effects similar to coffee or tea with some mood elevation.  A long history of use in parts of Asia where it was seen as a habit similar to drinking coffee. The bad rap comes from a government who wanted to decrease it's use because it cut into opium sales which were a source of tax revenue.

In the US it's logical for the FDA to go after it because it was seen as an easy win for the drug warriors and there are probably large corporate interests that would prefer not to see it on a larger market. For kratom to be accepted as a drug in the US would require at least 5 years and something north of 100 million to make it through the FDA approval process. This process is not friendly non patent-able substances. Some experts say that aspirin could not make it through if it was submitted for the first time now.

I started taking it, 2 grams in the AM with coffee, after my knee acted up. I have back issues and was already taking way too much ibuprofen and needed an alternative. Worked better than the ibuprofen but needed to repeat the dose every 4 hours which isn't a big deal to me.

The problem with CBD oil is not all of them are created the same and you have to be careful who you buy it from.  THC also helps the CBD oil work better but too much THC and it will show up on a drug test.  And like anything else people will react to it differently.  Even some prescriptions affect people differently.

Its not 'placebo' if you get a good product from a reputable seller.  I took 350mg in the form of a 300mg coconut oil (I don't recommend doing that, the coconut oil gave me a stomach ache) infused with CBD and a CBD capsule with 50mg when I received my sample pack from lazarus.  Put me on my ass for the whole day..  Sucks its illegal in your state but don't mislead people into thinking it doesn't work.

This is the same time frame I have noticed, I take 3-4 grams per dose. It is highly recommended to invest in a small scale to help weigh it out. I use a small tupperware cup that I place on the scale and zero before pouring the Kratom it. No mess and it's easy to keep track of. If I know I am not going to be able to weigh and dose for a while I will pre-pack some of the containers and put the lids on them. This is what I did for the NRA show in May, just threw them in my back pack and took as needed.

We bought a 00 size capsule making machine on Amazon, it makes 100 at a time.  The finished capsules contain a little over 1/2 gram each.

I'm still trying to dial in the best dose, I've tried Red Bali and now Green Malay from Gaiaethnobotanical.

I think I got the dosage right a couple days ago, I took 6 capsules of the Green Malay, and then an hour later decided to put gutters up on the back of my house.  That was odd.

I think with Kratom, less is better.

That's what I noticed.

Started at 2mg on the first day then tried 7mg 8 hours later, erroneously calculated off someone else's number of capsules which I didn't know were 1/2mg. I was a blob of jello on the couch for 3 hours. Completely opposite effect from the 2mg dose.

The nice thing about the capsule making "machine" is the ability to make 100 at a time, with consistent weight.  During the process a tamper is used 2-3 times to pack the Kratom in.  Plus, the bonus of not having to taste the stuff.

If anyone wants to see how this contraption works, here is the video my wife watches each time she creates a batch for me.
