I live out in the sticks down a dirt and gravel road.  It's not like going down the Rubicon or anything, but you definitely need to be in a car or pickup or SUV with a normal, decent ride height and ground clearance to get down it without any troubles.

I've always loved cars.  Living out here, my vehicle of choice has always been a pickup truck, but I'd love to own something sporty, new or old.  I have a fascination with the Acura NSX, I think it'd be a super neat car to own.  I love Porsches.  Mustangs are amazing.  I would love to have a sporty sedan for a daily driver, something like an Audi A6 or BMW 5 Series.  But the road to the house is kinda long and kinda rough, just ain't practical or easy.  I should probably have the road redone with crush and run or something, I'll get to it one of these days.  Also I don't have a garage or a covered car port or anything like that, and if I had a nice car I'd kinda like a way to keep it out of the elements when it's parked.

1965 GT350 was my boyhood dream. In 1966 I saw a used 1965 GT350 on a car lot for $1500.00. I was a high school kid working a summer job at $1.50 per hour, so there was no chance for me to buy a car like that. The manager of the lot let me start the engine just so I could hear the rump rump rump of the exhaust.

Jerry Steinfeld sold his. You can get a nice diecast 917 from Autoart, a German die cast company, and maybe a 908 to go with it.

There used to be a guy that sold old eastern bloc military vehicles… they had some type of 4 cylinder Jeep mated with a defender mated with an international harvester 4wd for under $ten grand. When I had the dough, further research dampened the deal as without proper emissions, safety glass bs, wouldn’t be able to use on the street and I don’t have a ranch

Probably one of those big International pickups that look like semis. I don’t haul shit, so that would def be a full of “why?” for me, but they are badass.

I could see myself in one of those!

Slightly more realistically, find the crispest Ford Excursion I can find and get a Godzilla engine swapped in. Lift, lockers, 35's and go camping.

The Homer.  Only $82,000

The Homer has two bubble domes; one in the front, while the one in the back is for quarreling kids, and comes with optional restraints and muzzles.
According to Homer, the engine sound causes people to think "the world's coming to an end."
There are three horns, as Homer claims that "you can never find a horn when you're mad." The three horns play the song "La Cucaracha."
The car also features gigantic cupholders, which actually became a feature on many cars in the 1990s onward.
The car has various outdated features such as bubble domes, shag carpeting, and tailfins. It also has a metal bowler as a hood ornament.

For vehicles that actually exist,  an EarthRoamer.

Lol...my first job paid the same thing. Remember the rallied-out GT350 Thomas Crown runs around Martinique in? It was a movie prop...they didn't really cut up a GT350 to build it, but somebody decided they wanted one just like it...and paid the money to have it built. That's f**k-you unrealistic car money.

To be fair, he didn't use a GT350 either...but by the time he was finished it probably would have been cheaper. Really cool article about the build, with a ton of photos of the finished product. This is what happens when you say, "price is no object", and MEAN it.

Suter MMX500. Two stroke fuel injected 500cc V4 GP bike that weighs 300 pounds and makes 190 hp. Basically what could have been had they not switched to four stroke machines in 2002. 99 were made. Number 69 is going up for auction in California soon. I'd be afraid to ride it honestly. It's an animal.

Lol, thanks! That close to Florida, I'd bet it goes to auction and there'll be people fighting over it. The same manufacturer makes a whole slew of different brands, but Cobalt is their premium...they're beautifully built and detailed. A bunch of our rich-n-shameless neighbors own smaller Cobalts, and even those run well into the six figures. I make due with my little 22' Chaparral SSi, though the two-foot-itis is itching pretty severely this spring.

Honestly though, big boats burn big marina gas and slip fees. Then you're talking concierge and storage on a 35' boat. It's not buying the damn thing that bankrupts all the lottery winners, it's the care and feeding. Lots of my neighbors are getting up there, though, and a gently used 24' Cobalt would be the bee's knees

I have always been fascinated with the Soviet Kharkovchanka.  Apparently three of them were built, and they supposedly worked really well in the Antarctic.

Obviously, I have ZERO use for one (or even a place to keep), so it is definitely super-unrealistic.  But I do think they are really cool.  A customized luxury one would be pretty awesome for TEOTWAWKI

I know the US abandoned their POS Antarctic rover.

Did the soviets bring all three of theirs back home or can you launch an expedition to recover one before all the ice melts?
