1969 Boss 302 in mint condition. They found it in a barn somewhere, and it still was low miles and like new. He had everything checked over
and replaced all the belts and hoses and replaced the tires.
Beautiful car.

There were a few guys that had some cool cars.

Burgundy w/black stripes '70 Chevelle 454 SS - VERY clean. Restored by the guy and his dad. Thing was a monster on the straights.
White '65 Mustang - Paint job was exceptional. It was actually pearl white, which looked really good in sunlight.
Red '65 Mustang - Guy also drove a '77 Nova, sometimes. But he was selling it and drove the Mustang most of the time. Engine in the Mustang had some decent power.
Maroon '67 Mustang - Driven by a good friend of mine. Not super clean, but it ran well and was basically stock
Black '77 Firebird Trans Am - Just like the Bandit drove; same color and everything. He drove it like he stole it. That car was usually going fast whenever he was driving it.
Silver '77 Firebird Trans Am - Driven by my best friend's older brother.
Blue w/white stripes '70 Camaro - Driven by a really cute black girl; her dad built the car for her.

Except for the 2 Firebirds, they all had Cragar SS wheels. The Chevelle and the Camaro had WIDE rear wheels. Those wheels were pretty much a requirement if you drove a muscle car back then.

Out of all those, I'd probably take the Chevelle over all the others. That thing was just gorgeous. Paint was flawless (painted by a local guy). Interior was meticulously redone back to original. Engine looked show quality with all the chrome on it. He kept it clean and didn't abuse it. You could hear it rumbling down the road from a couple blocks away.

1979, so...

GTX
Mach 1
Triumph TR4
MB 280 SE 4.5
Lifted GMC Jimmy, which I only remember because he rolled it a few years later, with me in it

All the teachers drove bangers.

A 1968 Camaro RS in white with orange stripes.

Like this but different:

It was pristine and well loved.

We also had a couple of dudes who rode horses, and I rode a Honda XL250 most of the first year, so...

A buddy had a Z28 Camero in various shades of Grey primer. His dad owned a machine shop. He took a big block out of a tow truck tore it down, then rebuilt, balanced and blue printed the motor. Upgraded the tranny, stall converter, speed shifter, built the rear, ect. His hood no longer fit due to the motor being taller so he didn't have one.

That thing was nasty. He would buy junkyard tires to burn off over the weekend.

We came back to school over a weekend and someone had filled the rear parking lot with tire tracks. It was a sight. We all knew who it was.

Small school, many years ago, an upperclassman had a 1969 Shelby Mustang. I rode in it once or twice. {We went to the same church}

He still has it, last I heard, but I recall hearing there has been some controversy over it being a "real" Shelby car. Something about the provenance or paperwork...... I'm not sure of the details. Anyway, it's supposedly a sore point with him, and since I don't live there anymore, I have kind of lost track.

It was a cool car, no matter what it was.

The year after I graduated my brother bought one of these. It was originally the color of the one you posted, but was repainted several times.  I use to go back to the school in it and pick a friend up when she was out of school for the day.

After doing a frame off resto with my dad on a 1968 L89...  With the right diff gearing it will do 211 mph. The torque from that engine was insane.

Mine till it got banned....

Most of the kids at my school had wranglers and vw's with fancy alarms.

I had a hugger orange 69 Chevelle with a 377 DE-stroker, 13:1 compression with a 3800 stall, dual stage nitrous works kit, and dumped race bullet mufflers. Every time I rolled through the lot even idling it would set off car alarms and the office had to call the students out of class to turn them off....  eventually it got banned from the lot for disrupting class's.  I ended up driving my 75 c10 that was a little less wild but had a healthy 383 stroker.  Still set off a alarm now and then.

Senior graduation day was the ceremony walk through, then out by 10am, drove the Chevelle and nearly the entire 340ish graduating class stood out front cheering while I did a first stage nitrous hit blowing the tires off in a glorious amount of smoke on the frontage road in front of the school setting off all the car alarms....

ETA graduated in 98

A younger kid bought a 57 Chevy with a small block and a 4 speed. He was told it had 4.11s when he went into the rear end later he discovered why it left hard was 4.88s

One guys family were Ford freaks. They had 2 Panteras and he would drive one to school every so often.
His project car was in the auto shop. A lime green Pinto with a SBF. The nitrous system was hidden from view, the gas and nitrous lines entered at the back of the manifold and went to each intake port from underneath the manifold.

I lived about thirty miles north of Detroit, class of ‘86. There was a ton of Classic Detroit iron in my school parking lot. One kid had a 68 or 69 Charger done up like the General Lee.  Nobody said shit about the confederate flag, either. Today you’d get expelled or the DMV might even refuse to register a car with ‘hate’ symbols on it.

My friend Dan had a mint maroon 65 T-bird. Another friend had an Olds 442. James Tarr was in my class, he had a 68 Catalina with a 400 Pontiac V8, guys from the auto shop were always trying to buy the motor from him.

My dad worked for Chrysler, I had a shitty 2.2 Shelby Charger. My buddy Scott had a rebadged Mitsubishi Pajero that was sweet. My friend Dave was class of 87, his dad was a GM exec and every six months Dave got a new car. IROC Z, a Pontiac GTA, a Formula 5.7, and finally a 87 Grand National. Dude SLEW  the pussy at my school.  RIP Dave.

My friends parents bought him a 65 Skylark convertible. It was a literal showroom car with a ridiculous low amount of miles. The electric top, doors, windows etc all worked and so did the original AC. I remember seeing the original gold paint on the Buick V8.

After high school he moved to Seattle and didn't take the car with him. He had a little 4 banger Ranger he brought with him.

His dad sold the Buick without even telling him, lol. Went to see his parents and wanted to pick up "his" car - sorry son, she's gone. Can't blame them really
