I'd go another direction and emphasize the most badass combat or self defense type of handgun along with an explanation of it's various useful features and why it's suited to it's purpose of self defense or war.

Of those listed so far I have the following:
LeMat -this is really a hassle to fool with. Just cocking the hammer is a bitch. Schofield - Uberti repro. in .38 Stoeger Luger .22 H&R 999 Couple of flintlock big bore pistols. One is a .69. Fun to shoot but newbies will have a difficult time 1911 in 9mm Sterling 9mm carbine. I should paint it white. Imperial Stormtrooper special.
