New episode of Shikimori made its biggest changes from the manga, so far. They seem to be pulling the 'rewrite the source material, so we can finish the story by the end of the season' trick.

I can't recall an anime ever falling so short of the pre-premiere hype it received and falling so quickly as that one. Everyone was talking it up. The anime was going to be great, Shikimori was going to be a solid contender for best girl of the year, she was going to replace many people's current waifu, etc. And then after a couple of episodes it seemed pretty much the only time I saw people talking about it was when they were making jokes about how terrible and disappointing it was/is. |

Before Shikimori I had NEVER quit an anime before finishing the first episode and it was very rare I quit before finishing the second episode. I threw in the towel on Shikimori in the first two minutes. |

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but the Neflix dub of the new Bastard! series sucks and is painful to listen too.
 Here's hoping Sentai redubs it for the Bluray release. |

Haven’t watched any yet but I enjoy the manga In the earlier episodes, the anime did a better job of having the story flow, rather than the manga's early problem of feeling like they didn't have a set order for the chapters (was the latest chapter an event that happened in the first year, or the second year? sort of thing). Around the time of summer break of the second year, the manga has gotten its problems sorted out and chapters are fitting together to flow as a story, and the anime is matching up to it reasonably well. But two problems are throwing things off with the anime, after that point. The anime studio was shut down for a few weeks, so they ended up having to insert a couple of commentary episodes to try to keep viewers happy while they struggled to get later episodes finished. And the latest episode indicates that they are just going to rewrite parts of a character's history, in order to get to a stopping point by the end of the season. |

Watched the first episode of Season 2 of Rent a Girlfriend (Kanojo Okarishimasu)
Kazuya might be even more cringe than in the first season but I'm still hooked and will painfully watch every episode if for no other reason that I can't get over the kawaii factor of the girls. |

I know it's not anime, but close.
Just finished watching Shin Godzilla. I don't know how I hadn't seen this earlier. Enjoyed the hell out of it. It had Hideaki Anno style written all over it. Highly suggest if like godzilla movies, reminded me a lot of the classic old school godzilla movies I saw as a little kid. Now Anno needs to make a gamera movie, cause I like turtles. |
