My thoughts on my 2nd attempt at One Piece after watching the first 80 episodes:
In the 4th episode there was a scene where there was a standoff between a pirate crew and a bandit crew. The bandit leader had one of his men pull out a pistol and point it at the head of the pirate leader and threaten him. The pirate leader then said "guns aren't for threats, they're for action" and then one of the pirates shot the bandit in the head killing him. At that point the show gained a lot of leeway from me. Arlong Park was probably my favorite arc so far (though the Little Garden arc wasn't too far behind) and the Usopp arc was my least favorite. As for the Straw Hats themselves: - Zoro is the only crew member that never annoys me. Easily my favorite. - Nami, for the most part, comes off as a less useless Sakura (minus the pathetic simping for a guy that wants nothing to do with her and even tries to kill her). - Luffy is okay most of the time, but his goofiness and cluelessness do sometimes get old. Especially in very serious situations where other people's lives are in danger. - Sanji would be up there with Zoro if it wasn't for his one massive flaw: HARDCORE simping for every above average looking female he sees. He sees a decent looking female just standing there fully clothed and he instantly acts like a horny 13 year old boy that just saw his first pair of naked tits. To say that gets very old would be an understatement. - Usopp has gotten a little better, but not much. When he said he wasn't going to join the Straw Hats I breathed a sigh of relief. And then when Luffy insisted he join I was tempted to put my controller throw my TV. - Apis isn't a Staw Hat, but she is voiced by the Dub Queen in one of her first VA roles (she was 17 or 18 at the time) so I'll include her. Attached File In conclusion: to me One Piece is like that free bread restaurants bring you before your meal. It's not good, it's not bad (usually), and it's definitely not the reason you came. It's just something to help tide you over as you wait for something better. At least that's my opinion through the first 80 episodes. |

I was right there with you on HxH. It felt like a Saturday morning cartoon through the first few episodes. I was even tempted to quit. I am so glad I didn’t because it wasn’t long after that the show started to get more serious and MUCH better. When the Hunter exam finishes is when the anime really starts to take off. It becomes pretty much unrecognizable from what it started off as. For me HxH is up there with FMAB and definitely a top 10 all time anime. |

Recently Netflix added all episodes of Hunter x Hunter so if anyone here considers themselves an anime fan and hasn’t watched what is one of the ten best anime of all time, get on it.

I guess I'll just use this meme as a list of shows to avoid. Most of those shows are actually really good. And to be fair the definition of incest that people use is rather ridiculous in some cases. As said before the characters in No Game No life were extremely codependent but I don't remember them being in a "relationship" either. The "incest" in SAO, Date A Live, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, and Bakemonogatari, are all one sided crushes. It may be a bit creepy but it is a little harsh to call them shows about incest. The only shows that are actually about the "incest" that I know of from that list are Domestic Girlfriend and Citrus and I personally don't agree that it should even be called incest. I'll put the reason in spoiler tags because someone may want to watch it. Maybe I am crazy but I just don't see how these two shows are what people say they are. Click To View Spoiler In both Citrus and Domestic Girlfriend the couples only become siblings because their parents marry someone with kids but the "kids" are all in their late teens and didn't really know each other before hand.
In Domestic Girlfriend A High Schooler about to graduate hooks up with a girl at a party and she disappears for a few days only for them to meet again when they find out that their parents are now married and they are now brother and sister and will be living together. The male protagonist also finds out that the teacher he has the hots for is now his older sister and will be living there as well. Please explain to me how them hooking up is incest? Because of a piece of paper? All I can say to that is BULLSHIT. When their parents get married the oldest girl is a Highschool English teacher and the youngest is a 16-17 year old Highschool girl. The boy is 17. If they were raised together from a younger age then I would agree with calling it incest because then they would have been raised as siblings but they were not. They didn't have the time to become "siblings" through the emotional connection of living together for a long time and growing up together. The were pretty much strangers one day and siblings the next. The plot of Citrus isn't much different so I have the same opinion on that one only in the case of Citrus it is two girls who fall in love |

You're also right about most of these scenarios being a "little sister loves big brother, and gets jealous of other girls" type situation. In the anime I'm watching now, Bunny Girl Senpai , that's exactly the case. Those don't bother me too much, but there is still a bit of creepy factor there. With it being such a common trope in anime, it makes one wonder how prevalent it really is in Japan. |

Usually there is not much that creeps me out in movies or anime but that one was bad. The only other movie that I can think of that creeped me out more was the movie Orphan. That whole movie was creepy from start to finish. |

I am going to put this quick story about a conversation I actually had with someone in spoilers because it relates to the previous spoiler. I swear to God that this was a real conversation and it was the actual answer given to me. Click To View Spoiler I was talking to (at the time) my niece's boyfriend about the "incest" in Domestic Girlfriend because he is an anime fan and he disagreed with me. He says it is definitely incest. I then asked him if his dad married my sister (my niece's mom) the next day what he would do with my niece and he said he would have to leave her because they would be siblings. I was like you two have been living and sleeping together for several years now and a piece of paper would change that? They were both 25 at the time In my opinion Bunny Girl Senpai is awesome and if you can find it (I know it was mentioned here before) definitely watch the movie Rascal does not Dream of a Dreaming Girl. I couldn't find it on streaming sites at the time so I bought it on Blu Ray and I was very happy I did. |

The series is on crunchyshit and I'm going to watch at least 3 episodes when I get home from work. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is also still on Funimation if you have access to it which is where I watched it but the movie Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl was not on any of the pay sites I have so I bought it. |

If you're into harem/ecchi/comedy you should definitely give it a try. There's a very good dub for it too. And there's no need to "give it time" for this one because it hits the ground running. |

One could almost say there was a plethora of paradoxes... I'd almost put it up there with Primer, but not quite as good as Predestination. |

Just finished watching episode one of a new summer release called “Call of the Night”.
I have to say, if it can keep up it’s going to be one of my favorites. It’s different, and really has my attention! |

It’s different, and really has my attention! View Quote Bro, same. That was the adaptation for Yofukashi No Uta, the manga which I have mentioned at every opportunity. I love the manga. It reminded me a few months ago how I used to be a night person and only adopted daytime hours when the Army made more and later for my current job. That was a few months ago. Now I'm on night shift. This is my first time seeing an anime adaptation come out to a manga that I was into before it was an anime. My initial reaction: Background art: Style and quality are great. I really like how unique it is and doesn't remind me of anything else I've ever watched. Character design: I'm not sure how I feel about this. In some shots I really like it and in other shots I feel like they should have spent a couple extra bucks and done better. Voice acting: Kou's VA sounds a little too old, but he'll do. Nazuna, however, holy shit dude...I was apprahensive at first, because the only other work I was familiar with was Aqua from KonoSuba and Miko from Mieruko Chan. I didn't think she would be a good fit, and thought it was a weird choice. I had originally been hoping for HanaKana. I was wrong and Sora Amamiya is Voice Actress of the year. I'm really glad they got the perfect VA, and so far haven't too badly goobered the animation for Nazuna. How glad? Well, just look at the name painted on my compact (you might say, petit) 11.5" AR on which I have a NV compatible dot mounted up on a 1.93" mount so I can easily get in behind it with my PVS14. The only incest I can remember off the top of my head is the faux stepsister stuff (we're just pretending to be a family) in Sister New Devil and the evil sister raper (I love my big sister, but not as much as I love abusing her) in Freezing. |

At times the way the MC looked reminded me of that South Park episode when they were making fun of Family Guy. |
