Yep...Suave shampoo always works for me.  I used to scrub with all kinds of things.  I noticed after a shower and shampoo ing my hair, the grease and oils were gone.

Pro tip, before greasy work begins, rub hands with Dawn like you would with lotion. Let it dry. Makes grease removal easier.

I do the same with GoJo. Rub it in before mechanicking.

Usually the next day, I just grab nail clippers, clip my nails short and get rid of the greasy shit that wouldn't come out.

But Gojo or any of those orange cleaners with pumice usually work pretty good.

I occasionally use mineral spirits to get nasty stuff off of my hands on job sites. Soak your hands with it, scrub, then wash hands well with soap and water afterwards.

Downside is it can dry your hands out a bit, but nothing too extreme.

Yep. Particularly if you let in soak in a bit, shake of the excess, and light it.  Leaves your hands clean and baby soft.

Liquid detergents mix well and break down grease if you wash with soap and no water.

What I do is skip the water initially, just apply enough soap to basically make my hands slimy as heck and then rub them together until the soap and greases mix into a greyish black mess.  Once the grease is broken up, I'll wash with warm to hot water.  I keep a fingernail brush nearby to get the black crap out.  Usually after all that scrubbing, my hands are clean enough that I don't worry about it.  It mostly goes away in the next day or two.  Stubborn deposits get a blade under the nails.

Edit:  If it's really bad, a little gas, kerosene, or something similar will work to get the bulk of the mess off.  Then you can do the straight soap scrub.

That stuff is pretty good but it stinks to high heaven.   I actually have some and will have to try it.  Every time something like that comes on the market it's good for a while then they dumb it down and it doesn't work for shit anymore.

I have a mechanic friend I've known for about 25 years. His hands were always mostly clean, but he had traces of dirt/grease in the usual crevices around and under the fingernails. About 10 years ago he started using liquid Tide laundry detergent, and now his hands look as clean as the average office worker.

It doesn't have to be the Tide brand, any of the liquid versions will work (I use the Kirkland brand). An added benefit is it doesn't dry out skin like solvents do. It is hands down the best thing I've ever used to remove grease from skin.

Rub and lotion all over it then wash with soap. A mechanic taught me that trick years ago.
If that does not work you can always do to a wedding dress shop and the grease will magically go somewhere else just like a 10mm socket.

WD-40 rinse followed by some of that mechanic soap that smells like oranges and has grit in it. It might be called Go-jo? That's about the best you can do. You'll never get it all out of your hands.

Zep Shell Shock

Zep makes great products. I used to own a printing company and the pressmen usually got ink on their hands and they all wanted Zep products because it easily removed the ink.

Was going to suggest use some clean oil.  The detergents clean and suspend the grime, then wipe it off, followed by some dawn.

another trick with dawn is use it full strength, don't use any water.

I went to bleed the brakes on my explorer and got grease and grime all over my hands.   I was wearing rubber gloves but they tore and didn't realize it until too late.   Now there is black car grease and grime under my nails and ground into my skin.  I used lava soap and a scrub brush and the shit is still there.   Even scraping with a knife blade leave the nails looking dirty.

Is there a tier 1 method of cleaning this shit off?

Boraxo and an old tooth brush for your nails.  Make sure to buy nitrile gloves, not latex ones.

My go to has been orange gojo. But sometimes the nails and cracks in skin dont want to give it up. As was said I have found a good shower and wash the hair does wonders. Between the shampoo and the hair acting like a scrub brush it normally gets 99% of it out.

yep you are gonna want the non pumice OG shit.

Purple Power makes a good one you can find at the walmarts in the auto seciton.

The thing is you are gonna have to use regualr soap after to get the film off your hands.

It's a too part process.

Now, the best soap I ever used that is a one step process is Pro Soap, it uses plastic beads and it's very effective.

@Bones45
I have used tons and tons of different hand cleaners, from around the world. This is the best one I've ever encountered.

A quarter size will clean even the dirtiest hands. A small brush doesn't hurt, but it's only needed for under and around the fingernails.

ETA: I believe they still give out free samples (the bottle in the pic).
