I started a thread (that subsequently got locked) about whether or not the dust cover door is opened by gas venting from the bolt carrier group, or the action of the bolt carrier group moving backwards - during the firing sequence. A guy went and did a test with whiteout on the dust cover and found out the gas was more likely than moving bolt carrier.
I don't get into much on the forums
