10+1 .45 in a concealable package?
I think a G30S would fit that bill perfectly. It's the smallest .45 I own (slightly smaller than a G19), it's a Glock so it's stupid simple and reliable and parts and accessories are pretty prolific, and it can still accept the larger G21 mag if needed. |

Yeah, it’s one round short of 10, but both are all-steel DA/SA beasts. Parts and mags you can still find. There are still a lot of 45XX-series L.E.-“trade-ins” floating around. They show exterior wear but internally most are nearly pristine since they weren’t shot all that much. Some of the late-model 4566s I’ve seen for sale have the TSW upgrades, like the rail on the frame. |

S&W M&P45
. . . or simply carry a full sized 1911 with a Wilson 8 round mag 8+1 = 9 close enough ...or carry a full size M&P40 = 16 rounds of a proven hot round |

No one seems to have the M&P 2.0 (.45) in stock.
Probably not going to work but just picked up the FN 545. The price was too good to pass up. Still going to look for the M&P though as that seems to fit the criteria the best.....for me. |

Quoted: 1911 is great, but limited to about 6 rounds. The Walther PPQ has 10+ rounds but too bulky to carry. Even carrying at 4 o'clock it is pretty obvious that I am carrying. A 1911 with 10 round mag could work, but the mag is going to stick too far out. Glock 21 is also too big. I find the G30 to be quite interesting.
Some years back I had the need for a serious carry gun and found a used G30 . No "S" just the regular G30. With my medium sized hands if feels huge , chunky and generally wrong . As a old guy with lots of shooting and some competition with a full sized 1911 I had the feeling I had blundered when buying the G30 . As it turned out in no time at all I found out when shooting with full power self defense loads I very easily shot the G30 better than my old trusty tuned 1911 . Not just somewhat better but night and day better. My conclusion is the huge blocky uncomfortable grip of the G30 forces me to grip tighter and in a more consistent way . I suppose hand size and strength will be different for different folks but for me the G30 is a great tool. Chunky , blocky , ugly with a trigger from hell but a great tool . Over the years I have considered going to one of the aftermarket triggers but It boils down to the fact that I shoot the ugly bitch well as is. Slow fire on paper or something like a timed plate rack it just works so well for me |

I asked the importer and the frames are stainless steel. Usually when "alloy frame" is mentioned, it is assumed to be aluminum alloy. Not in this case. Attached File Attached File Loaded weight Attached File The 3.8 xdm elite holds 10 rounds, decent trigger for a striker fired gun, and is a true double stack so it isn't as tall as other 10rd 45's. It is around 5" tall when most others are 5.5" tall. For me, 1911 carry the best because you notice the width most. Then height. Adding an optic adds height as well. S&W shield and the Kahr P45 also are slender. You loose a few rounds with them though. The fn545 is tall, especially with an optic. Wish they would make flush mags for it. |

What year is this?
But OP you should handle a S&W M&P 2.0 45 pretty slim and very similar to overall size of the the M&P 9. It’s not nearly as large as say Glock .45 grips or the fn545 nor is the slide |

A buddy has a Springfield XD 4" Compact; 10+1 .45 and approximately the same size as a G19. Not my choice but he likes it and hasn't had any issues with it. Just another option.
You can put me in the LW Commander camp; 8+1 and ten round spares if desired (I just carry 8rnders). Still one of my favorite carry guns. |
