As far as "combat ready", the G19 is plenty adequate for most any military situation that would be handgun applicable.  Many soldiers would tell you they could care less about carrying a handgun.  They would trade the weight and kit real estate the handgun takes up for more magazines for their M4

I was in a NG SF Group, in the ‘90’s, and when we went rucking some of the guys were carrying. One guy would have a 1911, and another guy would have a Model 29, etc.

It seems unlikely that they did not take their sidearms with them when they went to Afghanistan. If I hade gone, I would have taken my Speed Six .357 magnum.
Or I would have bought a stainless Beretta, but I would have taken a sidearm.

We had about a hundred of those KAC cans in our arms room at 3/75 Ranger back in 2013-2015ish, then they got turned in for Surefire cans. Not exclusive to MARSOC LOL.

HHC also had AAC Evo-40's for their Glock 22's around that timeframe although line companies didn't get MOS G19's till a bit later

That is such an interesting picture.

3 different optics
3 different buttstocks
2 grips
top carbine seems to have nothing on the rail but the handstop way forward
middle carbine has the pressure pad etc. and handstop to the rear.

3 carbines set up very different in the same unit by guys who know what they are doing.

Thanks for posting that.

Plenty of folks in plenty of units with plenty of selection/training pipelines still only know what the military taught them about setting up and using guns which in plenty of those units is shockingly little.

CD,

Since the 17s aren’t program of record and in one of your posts you mention that they were already down range.  Do any of these pistols come without the usual “Glock Smyrna, GA.” import marks on the frame?  In other words, do any of these pistols get shipped directly from Glock Ges.m.b.H to the intended theater of operations.

Not CD, but I'll take a swing.

Both are present in the system, all depending on when they were sourced, exactly what models they are, what contract they were obtained under, and what the desired end use was.  Anything DOD is using for any DOD stuff that has any business being discussed on an internet forum would still be subject to any marking/serialization requirements as any other similar firearm being made in that country.  Anything that is other than open source is anybody's guess and I would imagine neither CD nor Gaston Glock himself would/could confirm nor deny any information at all.

Yeah it is, I liked mine but I would not think them rugged enough. I also would never get the RSMs again, I went through a creek and they acted like water balloons. Comfy but I switched to Go Rucks for run n gun use.

It’s interesting that they have 17’s.  It was my understanding that SOCOM was able to get 19’s based on a compact size requirement and that a full-size wasn’t doable because there are other full-size handguns in the system.
