There’s a couple of photos like that out there, my guess is they were “borrowed” when working with cag but not actually issued

Speaking of 22s...any of you guys with actual experience, how do the .40s suppress sound wise?  Those big 180s do well?

Did rangers also try out .357 sig and .45acp glocks before realizing 9mm glocks are the way?

Can’t hot link from Instagram so I can’t approve your image, but the contract sights are trijicon suppressor sights, green front and rears with white outlines

For the record, I was not issued one and my unit had mostly M9s, with a few M11s and G19s.
I was with a unit that provided direct support on target with other units that could carry them.

The 180gr ammo was coming out around 1000-1050 fps at typical temperature ranges and suppressed fine.
It had to be well below freezing, like below 0 degrees /negative F something to hear a crack on occasion while doing training with them.

The severe cold lowered the speed of sound threshold but concurrently had a slight velocity slowing effect on the bullet as well.
Like, at 115 degrees the velocity might be 1060, with a sonic crack threshold around 1160.
but at 32 degrees / freezing the same bullet velocity might be 1030fps with a sonic crack threshold of 1100fps.
And at 25 F below the bullet might average 1010 fps, with a crack threshold of 1015.

Off the top of my head anyway, that’s roughly how it pans out.  Only in extreme cold do you possibly get an occasional crack.

I can only speak for myself, but in this instance it’s also a chance to own an actual piece of (rare)militaria; while the individual piece was not actually issued, it’s a contract gun that is not available through normal means.

That would only matter to me if it had seen service. Otherwise, I could just buy a gun and make a clone out of it.

I agree with the above posting.  I think it is a combination of size, capacity, reliability, price, acceptable accuracy, durability, and they simply work when they need to.  No need to "fix" something, or keep looking for more when what is out there already works.

There is no harm in continuing to watch what is available, and switch if something that is better at meeting the new mission needs comes along.

I mean yeah, no one is buying that gun to go take classes or compete. When their is only a handful of them out there, it's a sellers market.
