Tisas Double Stack (2011 Style) ? (Page 8 of 10)

Here's my Tisas Duty DS with a Holosun 407k and TR-3 light on it. I've had it around a month, and so far I've got close to 750-ish rounds through it..... everything from cheap Tula steel cased ammo, to Speed lawman 100gr ammo, to WWB, to some Gold Dot self-defense ammo.....it hasn't skipped a beat. It's been 100% solid. I added some grippy tape...the Tisas grips were pretty slick, and this thing is a great shooter. For $550....this is a great gun. I've shot my friends Prodigy side by side with my Tisas....and I can't tell any noticable difference as far as accuracy or feel (except the prodigy grip texture is much better) and my friends Prodigy had to go back to Springfield to get it working right.

Gun arrived today. I am pleasantly surprised. The trigger isn't bad, could be a little better. Hopefully, it will lighten up with a few hundred rounds through it. I got my light installed, now I just need to order an optic. |

I just shot the gun today. All I can say is for 500$ it's a homerun. It shot amazingly well. I was easily getting plate hits at 50 yards. I can't wait to get a red dot on it. Wow... |

I can't wait to get a red dot on it. Wow... Agreed. Picked mine up for $520 and finally got it out to the range. 100 rounds without a hiccup. Outstanding for a first outing. All I did was field strip it, clean any factory oil out of it, lube it like my other 1911s and fire away. Shot some pretty weak ammo too and no issues. |

Looks like the Night Stalker DS is going full rail and AOS eventually too. Looks really good. I hope the single stacks get a full rail variant with AOS mounting at some point too. A full rail single stack 45 Raider would be insanely hot. Attached File I hope they add front cocking serrations by the time it reaches our shores. I’ve come to the realization they’re a huge benefit when using optics on pistols. Tisas is making some awesome changes as of late. |

Hmm, I see the edges on the right side of the safety still aren't beveled. They did an excellent job on the left side and it blends well, but it's like they forgot all about the right side. <---- Just happened to notice that detail as I'm sitting here looking at the Stingray I picked up Monday while I try to find a proper, extended slide release to replace the small stop. |

It looks like that width looks good with the factory safety. The extended length should help with releasing the slide as well, I've never had a 1911 that I had this much trouble dropping the slide with my thumb. Pulling it down and checking clearances, the factory piece looks fine but since I'm going to be replacing it anyways I'm not going to put too much effort into it. As it is I think it's more magazine follower related than clearance or geometry on the slide stop. |

HonestOutlaw did a review on the newest version. Pretty shitty review for him because he just assumes it’s a MIM packed gun with no idea that it’s Tisas. He thinks MAC is just some brand new garbage Turkish brand. He also bashes the optic mounting not realizing it’s the same AOS style he’s praised as the best on other guns. He stripped out the hardware on it so it looks like that might be something to watch for. He tries his competition ammo which has pretty much never cycled anything but his competition guns. This does cause some failures but not sure what the point is since you don’t run reduced powder load ammo in a factory gun anyway. Dude must have been hungover or something as I’ve never seen him give out blatantly wrong/bad information like that before. Still one of the better reviews out yet, but probably his most uneducated and lowest effort review I’ve seen him do. I'll be picking one up soon. I'm deciding between a carry model and a full length slide. I want it to shoot smooth. Comp smooth. . Less slide = less moving mass no? Bigger slide = more mass to absorb recoil.... except at the end of travel? If more slide = less perceived recoil then why all the cut slides with speed holes? |

My 5 inch is a noticeably nicer shooter than my 4.25 inch gun. I actually just had a buddy shoot both today with the same ammo. He said, "I loved how the 4.25 felt until I shot them." |

Picked up the MAC 4.25 Comp yesterday. $799 plus shipping First impressions: Slide to frame fit and barrel lockup is much tighter than the Tisas I had previously looked at as well as Witness 2311, and Prodigy. Included AOS plate fits well with the Holosun 407C but not as tightly to the optic as my M&P plate. The included medium sized screws seemed to be the correct length to mount the Holosun with good thread engagement depth, and did not extend past the plate, and no filing of the screws for fit was needed. Disconnector is a bit sharp and the slide does hang some on it.. We'll see how that wears in, or if i'll need to clean it up after it gets some rounds through it. I appreciate that it did come with 2 different sized trigger faces in addition to the one installed, as well as a second mag button. Trigger has decent take up but pull weight while not measured, is heavier than others have reported and I will need to deal with that. Someone mentioned or linked a video somewhere around here on tweaking the sear spring that I can't find again, and would appreciate if someone could point the way. I haven't had a chance to take it out yet, but if this shoots as well as it feels, I think it's going to be the gun to beat in the budget DS 1911/2011 space  Unrelated to this, but for people in the SLC area, big shout out to Hy & Mikes in Midvale for the transfer... These guys are awesome.. I had a text telling me it was ready to pick up before Fedex tracking even showed it delivered... In and out in less than 10 min, and only $10 transfer fee. |

| Got bored on a work call and took apart my slide. I gotta say I'm impressed with the quality of the smaller parts too. I know there was some discussion about MIM parts or the lack thereof in the never models. Overall if it shoots as good as it seems to be made we'll be in good luck. |
