| It's just like a trust. It's my understanding that a trust its just a business entity. When u read the form 1 app it says...check one, and there are three boxes. One says trust or business entity. Then by Cleo signature it say read rule such and such (I can't remember). That rules states Cleo required for personal applications. There fore it isn't required for trust or business entity...I'm not a lawyer that's why I contacted and to ask... |

I sent in my Form 1's (for two SBR builds) and am now waiting. Will the BATFE send me the tax stamp for each build? I have seen on other forums that when you file your Form 1's via efile that you get an e-mail from the BATFE with a copy of the tax stamps. Since we can't file via efile here in Illinois, was wondering what to expect? Also is there anyway to track the status of your applications with the BATFE?

Assuming you did everything correctly, you will receive a hard copy of your stamp in the mail. You can track your application to a certain extent by using the site linked below, but the info is only as good as the reports submitted, and (from what I understand) the speed is partially dependent on the agent that processes the application. My experience last year was about a 9-10 month wait once submitted. From what I hear, things are a little quicker now.

| Are you guys still including a copy of the IL statute on SBR's with your APP? Lastly I can not remember when I did my other form 1 does the 26" minimul OAL apply to C&R or just the reenactors? |

Well i have finally started my process with a call to the local sheriff. This was an odd request to him and hasn't ever been through this process. He was unsure how it was legal and called the atf and got a response of sbrs are not legal to own in illinois being in direct violation of state law.
Has something changed and the c&r loophole been closed? |

I just picked up my Form 1s tonight, signed by my chief. I dropped them off last Tuesday. He had not signed one before, but I put together a nice package along with some letters of explanation, and I got an email today that they were ready to be picked up. I don't know if he called the ATF or did his own research, but he didn't have any follow up questions for me. (I'm in Dupage county)
I'm very pleasantly surprised that this turned out to essentially be a nonissue. If I can find time to get my prints taken care of this week, I'll have everything in the mail by Friday. |

Can anyone help me break down the engraving of the lower?
Not sure who to have do it, when to have them do it, etc. From what I gather, you have it engraved with your name, city, and state. You get this done, then you take your form 1 to the local LEO and have them sign off, then you send in your form 1. Do you send a picture of the engraving with your form 1? I guess Im just a little stumped on when that comes into play, etc. |

I don't believe you have to send a picture with your forms. Once approved, assemble your SBR and enjoy.

Yes, I'm in palatine, cook county. I'm waiting for my c&r to come back from the ATF (should have zero problems with that and the police chief knows I applied for one) Then once I get the c&r I'm going to email the police chief and say here is my c&r license, can you sign this form 1 so I can make an SBR? And I'll probably show him some text from the law saying we can have SBR's too. Then hopefully he says yes to signing. I know another member on here has gotten a stamp who lives in desplaines which is in cook county as well |
