Moved my 80 meter doublet up to about 50 feet yesterday.
Thanks to Chris for calling the net.

I actually sold the G90 at Xenia to fund the Yaesu 710.

Gotta hustle to get to the top.

I probably would have bought a 710 if they were available at this price when I got the G90.

Missed the net due to dinner with the wife and tuned up at 8:20 to hear a couple of Arfcommers rag chewing.

Maybe next week.

S9+20 dB lightning noise here.  I can tell NC is in there, but that's all I am hearing.

I was having antenna, radio or battery problems and only had 10W going out…….. and then the farmer started mowing ditches all around me. Lol.

Mast stand I made that can be free standing with tent stakes or drive over it with your tire. Made to slide the 33’ spiderbeam mast over it.

I made a stand exactly like that for my 10m pole. Same tent stakes too. I have a couple pvc pipes with garden spikes threaded to metal caps I can just push in the ground for some 13m carbon fishing poles.

I tuned in from Ben's western MT location.  I could hear FlatlandBusa perfectly. But otherwise I was hearing some other net in 6 land.  No noise here other than some static from passing storms.   The only UHF/VHF signals I can RX here are 3 FM broadcast stations.  Not even NOAA WX.

But do you have a guy line ring made out of the bottom of a Folgers coffee container?

No, but I use the lids from similar containers to hold my wire antennas on to various poles. Kind of a stand off for the carbon poles.

It could have been the 10KW's, or was more likely a good propagation path.

I have a line of lightning about 20 miles away, and it appears to be about 80 miles long. Sattelite dish just went down due to the storm. I hope I don't lose another antenna with this storm. It's getting old.

I was on a 71’ wire with a 9:1 unun, up about 20’. It is about 2.2:1 in the voice portion of 40m. The home antenna situation is not great, my vertical is a lot better but picks up too much RFI from the neighbor’s various electronics most days. Radio set at 100W.

I am usually portable and get my 40m dipole up in the air and do better.

I dont usually hear the east coast well on 40m before dark, but you were well above the noise this evening.

ETA; i might switch that wire out for a 40m EFHW now that I added 12m/17m to my vertical. I can just switch out transformers and shorten the wire.
