We're at zero sunspots and a low solar flux, pretty much all the bands are weak.
80/40 are noisy, 20+ is quiet but minimal propagation. Just not a great time for the net. ETA: 1 check in via 40M 3 via 20M w/ a dupe from 40M Band conditions were terrible, but 20M was far more usable than 40M was. Hopefully we get some more sunspots soon, or we'll need to wait for 80M in the winter. |

Just got back from my kayak trip.
i took the 20 watt chinese radio and a 3 ahr LiFePO4 battery with no way to charge it ( I thought it would be enough ). the antenna was a home brew 40m wire dipole that I managed to get up about 35-40 feet. I talked to home on 40m each night between 1900 and 2000 with ease, over 200 miles away, the first night using 5 watts and the others using 20 watts ( it was needed ). I also talked to Ontario, Nova Scotia, and VA I also checked into the 40 m Tues Phone net, just barely. Gyprat could barely make me out and also had a relay that helped. This is where I was. 44.781140267194374, -70.98455807705811 It was a 7 mile paddle. We went in by kayak for 5 days. The digi net seemed like it was going to work well. Unfortunate I talked to much the first several days and my battery went dead at 2004 on Wed night just as the net was about to start. It was neat having comms with home every night from as close to you can get to the middle of no where in the North East. without going on the Allagash., at least until my battery went dead. I have an InReach Mini and did use it but not a lot because it gets expensive. |

I should be present to NC tonight. Some risk of thunderstorms.
We've got 13 sunspots instead of the zero we had last week so hopefully we get some signals through. Plan remains 40M but will switch to 20M if 40M is as dead as it was last week. |

I only have issues at the net frequency on 40m, is there an alternative 40m frequency we could try to get away from the jamming (or whatever.)

July 23, 2021 at 5:50 pm These signals are identical in structure and around the same strength as the Cuban jamming of Radio Marti. This, and triangulation, leave little doubt that the source is Cuba. However, the assertion that they are specifically designed to prevent Cuban Hams from communicating with the outside world is absurd. The signals center at 7105, 7115, 7125, 7130, 7140, 7150, 7157, 7178, and 7215. Rumor to the contrary, they do not and have not moved. They are narrow enough that there is plenty of room for SSB and CW communications to take place. Further, I talked to a Cuban Ham in 15m on Wednesday, There is no jamming on 75m (open almost 24/7 to Florida), 20m or 15m., so it is not very effective. I don’t know what the Cuban gvt is up to, but it is not to prevent the handful (likely less than 20 total) of 40m Cuban hams from communicating on 40m. |

I'll look at the waterfall at net time and decide if we're going to shift freqs.
Before 7114 we did 7112. There was a reason we didn't use 7110 but I can't remember why, it may have been a QRP freq or something. I'm not seeing the same QRM those to the east are so pipe up before the net if you're seeing it or a hole in it nearby. |

First reminder out at 2300Z.
For those of you listening, if you can check for QRM at 7116 as well and report here it'd be helpful. I'm inclined to move up rather than down. At my location they're about the same and all I'm hearing is lightning-related static crashes, though a lot of them. |

I have a solid transmission that is pulsing S5 to S9 It is AM modulated and centered at 7115 with a 5khz bandwidth.

I have 25% copy on NCS, got weaponeer1911 90% and Mach 90%. I don't think my check in went thru.

I copied everyone but NC (I think) on check ins, spotty now, read weaponeer report. Doesn't look like anyone is hearing me.

OK copied NMBMXER directly, amazingly enough.

Well that's a new level of suck we haven't experienced in a while.
I had four stations in total spread across 40 and 20M. Quite literally seeing stations on the waterfall and then it just goes black and they're gone. Hopefully it goes better next week. 73 all! |

View Quote Yeah, I copied you about 70-80% at the beginning on 40, then you disappeared. Copied three check ins on 40 pretty strong, then they all faded to varying degrees. I don't think anyone heard me at all until we switched to 20. |

I should be around to NC.
I will try 20M after the 2330Z reminder and we'll see what band is best. It'll probably be 40M as usual but given how crap propagation has been we'll go with whatever works. |

Just tuning around 20M is sounding way better than 40M, but we'll see how it is closer to net time.

Partial copy on Weaponeer's test message. This is starting to look like a flashback to last week for me. Right on top of some QRM plus a lot of lighting crashes, have storms just to the southwest right now.
