It's going to be tough fining a MARS base. I believe Remington/Badger Ordnance makes them anymore.

Precision Reflex make one very similar to the MARS

They also have a zero MOA base

Alternatively, you could also use a Nighforce base and a Badger IMUNS for the AICS

This thread is evil.... I picked up a Remington 700 S/A receiver (sportman 78) today. I'm going to start a m40a5 clone. Only difference is it is going to be in 6.5 creedmoor.  Anyone know lead time on McMillan a4 stocks?

And here I was expecting some ungodly lead time..... well that sorts that out.

ETA: you wouldn't also have a lead on the PGW  NVs22  mount would you? I don't even see it on their website anymore.

I would check with GA Precision, they use them on their M40's

LWRC has the Surefire CA762SSAL/RE for those who are looking for the correct flash hider.

That Surefire mount is correct for an XM3, the M40A5 uses the muzzle brake

You might be able to find a used one...either old or new style AICS.

Or go with an earlier version with a McMillan A2 stock.

Or go on Gunbroker na d buy that Stiller Mk13/ AI Mk13 chassis, if it's still up for sale

Someone bought a 20 MOA MARS rail in the EE a few days ago for $325 IIRC

There is a McCann in the EE for $300

Euro Optic has an AICS 2.0 for Remington Long Action / .300WM for $815

Unsure if it's the old design or the new one (pic shows old design). However, it has black skins.

If you buy it,  maybe you can find some FDE skins for sale (either as replacement skins or take off from those who bought the Viper Skins).

I don't believe the old and new AICS skins are interchangeable, so you would have to find the correct style.

Alternatively, you could have someone match a paint color of AI's FDE

Not sure exactly. Maybe 20?

I went 30 on my MARS, as S&B said something about the 5-25x56 works best with a 30 MOA cant. I cant remember what exactly they said.

You could always get a XXMOA scope mount.

I've heard the complaint that the Mk11 cans were not very quiet more than once. Did the M110 cans get improved baffles?

Never heard an Mk11 can on a .300 WM with my own ears. I honestly cant tell much of a difference between my NT4 can on my 14.5" SBR and the M110 on my .300 WM. But then again, I failed the hearing test 4 times trying to get out of the Marines

I think the M110 can has the same baffle design. Not quite sure. Internals look about the same from the outside.

The M110 is almost 2" longer
