| Maybe put some weight into the stock somewhere to balance it out. An unbalanced rifle isn't near as fun to shoot as a balanced one, regardless the weight (thinking LMT MWS or Bushy ACR or Sig 556) but then again, from a rest, I am not near as concerned about balance. |

An MOE stock on the Ruger will fold b/c Ruger built the Precision Rifle to fold @ the buffer tube. |

I would agree with it being near perfect. It was very well thought out. I was surprised how nice the trigger feels. Just have to do some load development for it. One cool feature which doesn't help it perform at all is there is a QD point to sling it up with the stock folded. |

I'm sure this has been said before but I have to give a hand to Ruger on this one. They really stepped up and did their homework to produce a great rifle, at an affordable price, designed for the LR/PR crowd. Good on them.

I'm hoping to post a review tomorrow. This rifle is exactly what the market needed.
Update: I checked the feeding of mine last night. It fed perfectly from a Magpul, DPMS-style, and an M14 mag. It's a solid design in that respect for sure. I'll post some load testing groups later this evening. My initial review of the 243 is in the GD thread. |

Think back to the Larue bolt gun thread a couple months ago.
Fast forward to this thread and notice that Ruger has come up with something new and innovative that actually shoots all for a thousand bucks. Pretty funny if you ask me. |

| Am sure a few gun makers are pissed at Ruger for coming out with a low cost beginners precision rifle. Was hoping someone who has an expensive precision rifle bought a ruger and posted there thoughts and comparison. Have never owned a Ruger rifle but Have owned 2 Ruger 44 magnums. If the quality on the rifle is as good as there pistols, Will be an awesome rifle. |

ETA: It blows my mind there is now a quality precision bolt gun with the feature set it has, for the price of a Colt 6920. These things will end up getting tuned to the extreme, like Glock has been. But the heart will still be a <$1K Ruger. |

Ruger REALLY did their homework , listened or took the correct notes and made a rifle with features you could not touch unless you put thousands more into a custom rig.
I don't "need" one or another .308 but will end up with one at some point when the fanfare and run on them dies down some. |

They measure exactly 1" from the bottom of the scope to the bottom of the rail. I think this is about as low as you would want to go because of the inline stock. I did the barrel break in,(let's not debate that), and sighted it in at 100 yards with Lithuanian NATO 7.62x51 ammo. I didn't have a bench because someone stole mine off my own property, so I was forced to shoot off the back of my Quad for a semi steady platform. I have posted two groups, the last two I shot. The first group group a little over MOA with the NATO ammo. The second with Hornady 168 grain match that was well under MOA. I don't think I'll be buying an RPR (I already have several "long range" guns) but its a damn sight cheaper than what I built to get the sameish level of performance.
Nice to see innovation in the market. Last time we asked a manufacturer for something innovative we got a thread locked
Wouldn't mind the 243 I guess. I have one, but its a single shot truck gun. All of my other long range guns are 308 or 6.5. Always liked blowing up groundhogs with the 243 and 55 blitzkings going a bit over 4k fps. |

Well, I sold some stuff and spent some time in Columbus trying to find a 6.5 the other day. First two shops I stopped at actually laughed, but Vance Outdoors in Hebron put one on backorder for me at $1049, with.the disclaimer that they had no idea when they'll be able to get it |

Excitement on gun boards doesn't translate into reality. Looks like a great product for people getting into it, but 1k is a steep price for brand new gun owners and few people shoot at long range. Most of us here probably already have more expensive setups to begin with as well. I think it will sell very well, but let's be perfectly honest, if people "did" half as much as they talked on gun boards, 10mm would be the most popular cartridge in the world. This is a niche product. |

FWIW - I bought mine from Kittery Trading Post and the GB deal I got was the last of four .308 rifles they had in stock. They apparently sold their 243s and 6.5s also as a BIN and the lady told me they sold their four .308s in 30 minutes. |

| Are the guns on GB from reputable gun stores or from folks buying these rifles, then reselling them for mark up? Have never used the site so I don't know. Same thing happened when ruger released there new 22lr pistol. GB and other sites were selling them before major stores got them. |
