Damn am i the only one who thinks the standard AMD brake is fucking AWESOME? Oh and what is that on your stock? Ive been wanting to put some kind of pad on mine but idk which route to go. After I got the replacement stock (from amd65tech.com) I fabricated an additional cheek mold riser thingy using sculpy clay and baked it to perfection at 275 degrees for 30 min. Then I covered it up with a custom nylon/velcro cover. I think it looks pretty slick and since I molded it around the replacement stock it doesn't move at all. I used zip ties to secure it on there. When I molded the sculpy clay, I pressed the zip ties into it so they would have a channel to lay in and wouldn't slip around. Another thing to do is make one from wood and simply wrap it in leather to dress it up. Secure the leather with tacks or upholstry glue. I can't remember where I saw that. But yeah, I hate the tapco brake on the amd. I went to great lengths to get rid of it. I also hated the fact that the AMD doesn't have a heat shield on the gas tube. That mod was really easy. :) |

Quit making cannons and gear, and start building more AK's! LOL yea my boy says that also. Thats why I taught him how to build them he made the Bulgy 74 he's 16 years old it was his first build and he did it from a tapco flat. |

This brake seemed to really reduce percieved recoil and made it feel like more of a push than a sharp punch. Yes I had to use a thread adapter. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8108/8521067055_8acaa7f78e_b.jpg I ordered the replacement stock from AMD65 tech.com but you don't really need to use a torch or drill to get the old stock off typically. Just use a punch. After I got the replacement stock I fabricated an additional cheek mold riser thingy using sculpy clay and baked it to perfection at 275 degrees for 30 min. The top heat shield is just a cheap East German plastic one on a modified gas tube that I cut down and then flared to fit. Mine is actually a bit too short and in case you were wondering, you can actually have the thing WAY too short to where there is a gap and it will not matter. The gas tube vents don't matter either. The gas tube is actually just a guide for the rod/piston. It really doesn't hold much if any pressure. Damn am i the only one who thinks the standard AMD brake is fucking AWESOME? Oh and what is that on your stock? Ive been wanting to put some kind of pad on mine but idk which route to go. Nope, the standard brake works really well. The reverse non-AMD pistol grip and new brake are really bizarre. |

Have maybe 300 rounds through it so far and it seems to hold zero just fine (even with the optic being a Primary Arms and not an Aimpoint Micro). I think the rear iron sights of the mount are a little too wide and not as accurate as the stock AK sight, but they're only for backup so it's not too bad. |

Just a fun gun all the way around! I'm liking this VERY much so myself. Details? Thank you fellas! Here are the details on this rifle. I bought it last spring here at Arfcom EE. It is a numbers matching Polish PMKMS under folder. The fella who built it did a damn nice job, and had only a mag through it when I bought it. Very accurate, and very fun to shoot. Anyway, I had been seeing photos of others battlefield pickup rifles, and one night decided to say to hell with it, and give it a try. Basically, took a green scrubbie soaked in Hoppes, and went to work. I also used some fine grit sandpaper, plenty of oil, and basically just kept working on it through the evening. I kept looking at photos on google of real battlefield pickups, and tried to replicate The look. The end result is what you see, and I will say this, it gets a lot of attention. I never expected it turn out so good, but very glad I did. Glad you guys like it! |

Especially with the underfolder, it just does it for me. Haha. Thanks for the details

My camera skills suck, as I only have an iPhone. Here is another from a different angle. I took these pics a while ago, but if anyone is interested I can get her out of the safe and take some more.
