Does anyone have a lead on a 308 Raptor Charging handle in stock anywhere? That's all I really need to finish my build.
Thanks in advance. |

@Vesticles
Optics Planet has the OD and tungsten gray versions listed as “estimated to ship in 7-20 days”, other colors are “extended backorder - unknown ETA”. If you’re not 100% set on the Radian, OP has PRI gas busters in stock. |

For a .308 build, is a double ejector bolt worth the added cost over a single ejector? Looking at Toolcraft for both in the spirit of comparing apples to apples.

Question. Is a Rubber City Armory BCG worth the extra $90ish over an Aero BCG? Build is a 20" criterion 6.5 Creedmoor.

I am putting together a mid length upper and have run into a snag. BA 16” government profile using a WyndimWeoponary barrel nut regulator AR mid length hand guards. Problem is hand guard is about 1/16” to far forward. Anyone experienced this before. Also can’t use a BCM charging handle won’t clear the lower.

I initially zeroed/tuned it with a newer lot of Hornady 140 ELD-Ms and it ran great. Then I shot a lot that was a few years older and it was wildly over-gassed and blowing primers on every shot. Its a temperamental gun for sure. I was using a silencerco Omega on the gun for both tuning and with the second lot. |

Wilson arms. It’s a beautiful barrel. The barrel extension is what looks wonky. Truth be told the polish work on the extension is quite nice, like glass.
I haven’t cycled anything through it. I had some time over the weekend and decided to build it. I torqued the barrel and was cleaning up my mess, that’s when I noticed it. I feverishly looked for pics and info. I decided my best bet was to pull it and call both manufacturers Monday. The seller is willing to issue a refund on the barrel ( I hate to do that , the sucker really is sexy. And they are difficult to find right now). Aero told me if I had an issue will cycling down the road I could send it to them. They would change the angle of the ramps and reanodize after their work ( I have to say they are a terrific company to work with). I am waiting to here back from wilson , the ejection side of those ramps looks wider to me. One wonders if it was just a heavy hand by an over zealous smith at Wilson’s. I just have never seen ports so wide on a extension and so shallow on an upper. Haha I got the best of both worlds. |

These are the feed ramps on my build. I just cycled and ejected two rounds to see how it would feed. They both entered and exited fine. They did however leave some copper marks on the feed ramps and barrel extension. I'm not sure if that's something I should be worried about or not.

That gap and angle messing up my brass is one of the things that was concerning to me. How bad is it? Also have you discharged a round yet?

Not something you normally have to worry about. Longitudinal marks on the brass would be a better indicator of something that needs to be addressed. You can polish it up if you want. It's easier to do the barrel extension before the barrel is installed, but can also be done after. I use a bore mop on a section of cleaning rod chucked to a cordless drill using Flitz. I use a short section of PEX pipe as a bore guide (but from the bottom of the upper) to protect the upper. Don't re-use the bore mops for anything else and thoroughly clean out all traces of the Flitz when done (it gets everywhere). If it needs more blending than that, you can use round files etc. before polishing, but don't go overboard causing permanent damage. It's hard to mess up by just polishing. A lot of these issues self-correct after a few hundred rounds. |

After reading all of the horror stories on here, I was pleasantly surprised by my gun running suppressed like a top. After dialing down the gas after the first mag, it ran like a straight from the factory rifle. After bore sighting at home last night, it took me a total of 2 rounds to get sighted in at 100 yards. Hi all, i have an Aero M5 build,
it is taking longer due to the current situation with parts. I have M5 upper receiver and BCG, M5 Lower and LPK and Carbine buffer. and the following. a fancy straight drop in trigger a kriss stock a generic 4140 cromo 18" barrel, w/gi muzzle a nice mid length gas tube. it is all together loosly, save for the gas system. Due to my naivety and impulsiveness, I bought a generic 13" mlock hand guard from CDNN, it is supposedly for 308, but the top of the rail, is lower than the rail on the receiver, by about (2 credit cards) - don't laugh, i'm too lazy to go into the garage to get my digital caliper. I suppose i could reuse this on some other ar 15 build in the future, but I expect I will use it in the interim, to replaced eventually. Besides buying directly from Aero, what do I look for, so I don't make this mistake next time in getting the rail height to match? (this brings up two add'l questions, (is there enough adjustability in raising the front MBIS, (or lowering the rear) with canted rails, or should i just cant a simple red dot off to the side? and ignore the front? while I use this misfit one? the adjustable gas block is in the mail, and then I'll get everything torqued down. Next , I'm looking at scope mounts next. I hope to use it to shoot pigs, when I get to Texas, so I was thinking of the vector hog hunter 3x12 as a starting place for inexpensive glass. thanks much in advance for your considered comments. |
