| I shot 400 or so rounds of '91 headstamp through my bushmaster A3 with a 16 inch barrel. This ammo shot perfectly, with no malfunctions what so ever. The weapon never shortstroked either. A+ as far as surplus ammo goes. The only note worthy point that I notice during this session is that the ammo does seem hotter than other loads, and the recoil is slightly stronger than wolf and Winchester. |
I fired 108 rounds (not much, I know  ) of '92 today from my new varmint build (free floated WOA 20" stainless barrel). It was somewhat dirty, but not terrible. No problems to report. Accuracy seemed to be equal to the Black Hills blue box (55 FMJ) that I had. It also seemed hotter than the Black Hills.5 rounds in 5/8" at 50 yards (with 3 within 1/4"), and 10 rounds in 1 3/8" at 100.

Thanks for all of the help. I'm now sitting on 4320 rounds, all 1990 have Too bad I lost it all in a tragic boating accident along with both of my EBR's. Guess I'll just have to be happy with my pathetic little Ruger 10/22 |

Two 720rd cans w/stripper clips and pouches arrived today from aimsurplus. Dated 1989. Fairly clean for looking. But what would you expect since it's been fingered by someone who pulled all the tracers. Good quality stash ammo at a great price. Thanks for all the positive input from everyone here. wagsfn |
| I got some 92 Radway, and put 80 rnds through my 11.5" SBR (BM 1/7,C). Shot well without incident. I just got some 89 marked rnds today, and you can notice a big difference in appearance. The 92 stuff is shiney, and the 89 looks more like what you get with the LC M855. Looks doesn't concern me. I just hope the 89 stuff shoots as well as the 92 stuff. I guess I'll find out this weekend. Unless any of you already have expereince with these 2 years. If you do I'd like to hear of them. btw I've read this entire thread, and it sounds like I'm good to go. I'm always happy to hear current results. Have any of you gotten some of the 89 stuff from AIM lately? |
| Have shot more than 2 full cans of the stuff and it's great. Most of the stuff has been 90-93 and shiny. I picked up a lot of empties for reloading and tumbled the cases and they came out shockingly shiny. Also had to cut one in half with a Dremel to get a stuck neck resizer out and it was thick as all hell. The Brits make some good stuff, we're just too uppity to notice. And never found them to be underpowered, that's mostly bull from XM193 purists. |
I agree. What's with people in the past saying that it won't cycle in shorter bbls.? I beleive even our Military put out something along the same lines. My 11.5" SBR shot the 92 headstamped stuff fine. |

Don't know that the 16" bushy has a problem with it but I have short cycles with this stuff, still love it though, just wish my Bushy loved too. |

Just finished a rifle course that both my brother and I attended. All that was used was Radway Green. We both fired 600+ rounds and no ammo related issues were seen. I did lube up around the 250 round count but that was all that was done. This was my first heavy trip with my first AR and it was only lightly oiled (too lightly according to the instructor) to begin with. My brother was firing a 14.5" Bushmaster M4 and I was using a 20" JP Rifles upper on a homebuilt lower. I will continue to fire this ammo as long as I can find it for a decent price. |

I'm had big time problems with a 16'' middy short cycling with 92 stuff. I opened the gas port to a .078 last night now the crap won't feed every 3rd or 4th rd I'll try the SPR tommorrow but I suspect I'll have 3-4k rounds for sale shortly!!!!!!!! If it chambers it shoots well. |
| I've put about 1500 rds through a 16" carbine without a hitch. Today at the range I had one blow. Blew everything out the bottom of the magazine, and mangled the extractor. The shell was broken and stuck in the bore. Happy there was no injury beside the cost to replace a few parts. I will still use the ammo as overall experience has been good. |
What was the date stamp or lot number? |
| Still no malfunctions but some of this stuff is a little over pressured. I pick up most of my brass as I plan to reload next year. I found one case with a wide pressure ring and flat primer. I also found a primer anvil in my rifle. Never found a case that was missing a primer cup though. It kind of surprised me when I was cleaning my rifle. Headstamp is 89. |
| I put about 100 round of radway green through my rifle last week (CMMG 14.5" 1/7) I had 3 pop no kick FTE. But other than that, it seemed good to go. The price isn't too bad, but I haven't had any problems with my Lake City stuff so between the two its no brainer, but I'd go with RG before any of the others; adcom, etc... |

I've shot 450 rounds of ammunition marked '92 through my brand new M4. I have encountered no problems, and the ammo comes on 10rd stripper clips nicely packed in bandoleers. Accuracy seems to be great, but this is my first rifle and I have little experience, I just like plinking. And plink it does. I like this stuff so much, I just bought another 750rd can. Rifle specifications: Bushmaster M4 upper receiver, 1/9 twist 16" Wilson barrel, chrome lined. Mega lower receiver with DPMS parts. 0 problems so far...money well spent. |

This ammo is definitely under powered and literally turned my Robinson XCR into a bolt gun. It would not eject a round except maybe once every 10 rounds. The XCR worked flawlessly with LC M855, XM855PD, and XM193. However, I had no problems with the Radway using my Armalite carbine. It cycled fine and was pretty accurate. |

Ran a few mags of '91 RG through my 20" Colt HBAR this morning. No FTF, no FTE. Accuracy was pretty good, better than the ADCOM I took to the range last time. This ammo is pretty hot. What I really liked was that this is very, very clean. I felt like it took me forever to clean my rifle after a I shot a bunch of ADCOM last time. Cleaning took practically no time at all today. |
| There must be some bad lots out there. I've shot "89" and "92" headstamped RD with no problems. I've shot them through both my 11.5" CMMG SBR bbl, and through my 16" middy "Recon" bbl from Denny. Never had a problem. It's a little dirty compared to LC, and AE, but it works. |

I'm almost afraid to ask this but since the .308 SA dried up and AIM is out of Radway with Wideners only having 888 ammo cans left and who knows how much sportsmans guide has left. I'm wondering what everyones thoughts on how much longer the Radway will be around? I'm thinking it will all be gone by December but was wondering what others thought and if anyone is in the "know". The reason I'm asking is because I would like to get 4 more cans of the stuff but would like to hold off as long as possible because of the money factor and Christmas coming up and all. Thoughts? |
I would say that the Radway will be gone from most retailers by the end of the year. Less options in the market now coupled with Christmas and Bonus money will spell ammo whores focus on Rd and Guat. BTW I just picked up another can of it myself along with some Korean 30-06. |
That's kind of what I was thinking as well. I didn't want to do it (so soon) but I just ordered 5 cans of Radway and 900 rounds of 8mm Yugo on strippers. I was only going to get 4 cans of the Radway plus 1,000 of Wolf 7.62x39 but I figured I should be able to get the Wolf any time I want (maybe not at the current price though) so I ordered an additional can of the Radway. I'm going to have buyers remorse for a while over this one though.  Ahh hell, I'll be over that in a month or so when all of the .223 surplus is all gone.

That's ammo that's 17 years old  I used to experisnce the same thing. However, new stuff (anything with a L2A2 headstamp after 1994) is right up to speed. Interestingly for those that are interested, the RG ammo that's available in the UK at present is 2003 and 2006 and there's nothing wrong with that Mark |

I had started another thread today with a question on this very ammo. I had purchased a can from AIM ( headstamped 91 RORG with NATO cross ) about a month ago. I had several hundred rounds of various other ammo to go through and shot it up first. I built a new AR 15 last week for a nephew with a new Stag M4 upper and New Bushmaster lower and stag butt stock and buffer. I took the weapon out and fired the first 30 rounds with maybe 2 misfeeds that I contributed to a new tight weapon. I loaded the second magazine and it had about 15 fail to feed's. It would fire,eject,cock the hammer sometimes and close the bolt on an empty chamber without stripping the next round out of the mag ( short stroking ). I changed mags from factory Colt 20 rounders to NIW OK industries 30 round mags I was going to give to my nephew with his new weapon). After about 6 different mag changes I switched weapons to my old standby Bushmaster 16 inch that HAS NEVER given me one FTF with any of the cheap ammo out there and I have probably shot around 2K through it with the same results. I then went back to my house and picked up my Colt 6920 ( box stock other than a rail ) and took it back to the range with the other two weapons. It had the exact same problems. My son showed up with his 16 inch Bushamster carbine and we tried it as well.....same problems. Sometimes it would fail to feed every round out of a 30 round mag and sometimes it would only FTF 3 or 4 rounds out of a 30 rounder. I pulled out my two carry mags that were loaded with SS109 Green Tip and fed 60 rounds out of the new weapon without a single problem. I then loaded the same exact mags with the Radway and it had 18 FTF out of one single magazine. I then loaded it with some Winchester white box 55 grain that my son had and it fed flawlessly. Their was another guy there that was shooting Silver Bear steel case and I swapped him out of 20 rounds and it fed flawlwesy. We experimented with several different mags, bullet weights and manufacturers and none gave us a single problem out of about 300 rounds other than the Radway Green which would not consitently feed in any of the weapons or magazines. We shot about 150 rounds of it and gave up. I have ran as many as 600 rounds of the old Wolf "nasty stuff" through the one Bushmaster and got it dirty as hell and never had the problems that I did with this stuff on a clean weapon. The reason that I had posted the question today was due to the fact that their was a guy at the range that was selling about 15 cans of this stuff ( I have no idea what the date was ). I had asked him why he was selling it and he stated that he had just purchased too much of it and was thinning out his ammo ( at a reduced price ). I do not know for sure but I suspect that he was running into the same issue but that is merely speculation. I had a friend that had reccomended the ammo to me several weeks before. He had purchased two cans and had ZERO issues with his ammo. His is all dated 92 RORG with NATO cross. He purchased the rest of my can from me and we are going to check it in his mini14 this next week. I am not trying to knock this ammo by any means. I would understand if it was one weapon or whatever but 4 AR15's with many verifiably good mags and no good results out of any of them. Anyway, thats my 02 cents worth.... m4s4ever |
