Some of you were following my build "quest for A4gery" in the BIY section.  Well as I mentioned earlier I had to sell the KAC stuff and Bipod (cuz I needed the cash, honestly) but I'll always be able to pick those things up again on down the road.  So here she is again...but in her KISS form.  BTW I finally ended up pickin up a Colt BCG on the EE and she shoots like a dream, and thanks Ryan for helpin me w/ the build!

eh...what the hell...I'll throw in one more pic of the A4gery when all she needed was a sling and an ACOG...don't worry though...I'm not giving up on my quest to make this a replica/clone

but here's what she used to look like as some of you have seen in this thread and others b4

The C-Products mags have been here for a week. I popped open a bag once my KAC M5 arrived.

The magazines were 10.60 each including the followers.

My AR15A4gery is done!

I got my A4 clone done today, functionally, but I got a couple quick questions for the A4 gurus. The first being, does the issue A4's come with the Badger Tactical Latch on the charging handle these days? I see them a lot on pics' of issue A4's these days so that had me wondering. And second, what is the issue sling/hardware setup being used now? I see lots of variations on issue weapons, but the Eagle Industries "no hardware needed" (TAS-1) type slings seems to be used the most.

What I am basically trying to do is round out my build w/ the tiny details, so any insight would be appreciated.

I suppose i'll play along

I think I'm going to switch this to my Aimpoint though and use my ACOG for a yet to be owned SPR type upper.

Here is my interpretation of the Dogfight Ink illustration above. Uncle Sam needs to raise my pay so I can afford the PEQ-2/PEQ-4.

The brand new FN M16A4s we were issued for OIF3 came with a regular charging handle, A2 handguards, and black issue sling.  We received Aimpoint M68s and the Knights RASs later.

We each bought our own tactical slings and stock mag pouches along the way.  Most everyone bought the Mamba sling and the Pouch by SpecOps Brand because that's what Clothing/Sales and the PX's in Benning, Kuwait and Iraq had on the shelves.

Some of us went to "Ranger Joe's" and "Commando's" off-post Benning to buy our tacti-cool gear... just to be different.

The gear we received through RFI in 2004 didn't include slings and pouches. This might have changed by now.

The Badger Tactical latch is not standard issue on any of the army rifles/carbines. Soldiers may be altering their weapons themselves.

SOCOM does use a variety of charging handle latches however. I've seen the PRI gas buster charging handles with big latches and the Badger latches in pictures. The different latches were proposed as SOPMOD Block II/III items.
