Now I can't decide between another 14.5 or my first 13.7 for my next build.

Sorry but only photos I have right now.  Pics were right when I took it out of bubble wrap after it’s trip to me from GB.  Sights were not in the right place.  Now has a M600DF and Cloud LCS.  Probably about it.

I am getting a SOLGW 13.7 mid length barrel. Should I run a Vltor A5 buffer or normal buffer? It will be 100% suppressed

Normal buffer in a normal (mil-spec) extension tube, A5 in an Vltor/Armalite length extension.

Can I add a nuanced request? 13.7 with a DD RIS II? I know I've seen at least one before, but I'm super curious on this front as I have a DD RIS II FSP and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. Sell or let it grow another rifle lol...

It’s almost a compulsion, it can’t be helped.

If I ever build another free floated upper, it will most likely be a 13.7” (ish) with a BCM or G rail.

13.7" BA Hansen with a pinned/welded 249f wearing a 12" Fortis rail.  Probably my favorite rifle to be honest, although the Meprolight is gone tomorrow and getting swapped for a Vortex 1-4x.
Shame the 249f and that rail are discontinued though.

Just ordered mine for the next build.  You say pre dimpled, I assume for a gas block.  If so do you know what the spacing is on those dimples? I want to order a GB as well that will seat properly.

Larue 13inch Mlok UU. Sold off the old barrel for and used a 13.7'' Ballistic Advantage Hanson. Muzzle device is a Thunderbeast Brake and pictured with a TBAC Ultra 5.  Very happy with the barrel length for velocity, handling  etc indoors and out.  Barrel is long enough that the bare brake isn't unbearble too.

I had a buddy’s SOT shop do it, but yeah. Timed the flash hider then drilled the wrench flat for the pin before welding.

@ARguy81 Pretty sure I sent this one to Weapon Outfitters...it’s a few years ago so either them or ADCO.  But yeah, they drilled & pinned on the flat:

Question for the group.  I will be using a SOLGW barrel and a 249F muzzle device. Did you all use a shim set or a standard crush washer to get the device timed where you want it?

Unless you’re mounting a suppressor on it (and I’m not sure if any suppressors are standard 249f comparable) a regular crush washer works fine. Just remember to check fit and length before pinning and welding in case things need adjustment.

This is a factory SOLGW upper so they did all of the work including the pin and weld. No washers were used as far as I can tell and the NOX brings the barrel out to the legal length. On their website its called an East India Starter kit. The cool thing that SOLGW will do is if you order the kit, you can send them any handguard you like and they will install it during the build. No extra charge for that service. The handguard on mine is a Midwest Industries MI-CRM12.625

This thread has really got me wanting a 13.7 build.

Here’s what I’m kind of envisioning for mine...

- 13.7” Ballistic Advantage barrel
- Noveske KX5 flash suppressor
- BCM MCMR 15” handguard

Has anyone done something like this already? If so I’d love to see pictures of it!

I've got a few small pieces to order then I will be having my barrel pinned/welded. Debating on trigger but leaning towards a Larue.

Only reason I went with BA barrel is because I scored a brand new one for 140 with pinned gas block. With the SOLGW being mid length, I wish I went that route. I am going with an MI 12.65 rail and the brake that comes with the can

Yeah, the mid length is the reason I went with SOLGW.  Could be rumor but I read somewhere that BA makes the SOLGW barrels. That might be the reason BA doesn't produce the ML system for themselves.
