Start it on T8  or T7

I thought I had it out as far as it could go without hitting the M4 guards

is that model a 551?

Thanks Paul for your help as always

I wonder why just 3x

I think a 6x would be cool   maybe just a tad blurry UP CLOSE

I have an Eotech 552 Model currently on my M4gery.  What's the price for the optic and ARMS base??????????
Link Posted: 7/6/2007 4:13:12 PM EDT
[#8]
The non-flip version retails for $399 and the flip-to-side version retails for $499.

Eye relief is about 1 inch but, is "shootable" out to 3 inches.

Has anyone had a chance to compare the EOTech 3X with the Aimpoint 3X?

Just curious about things like eye relief, field of view, perceived brightness, edge distortion, etc.

I don't think it will (see picture below).  You may need to bump the EOTech forward of T6.

Is the BUIS deployable with the mount flipped to the side?  It's hard to tell if the BUIS will clear the checkered rubber sleeve.  If so, that would give good access the switches and you could squeeze everything in behind M4 HGs.  But that pretty much limits you to the "flip to side" mount".  The fixed mount would force you to remove the magnifier to access controls and depoly BUIS, correct?

ETA:  Nevermind.  One of the other pics in your first sequence above clearly shows the BUIS is deployable, there appears to be plenty of clearance.

Has anyone been able to compare the optic quality of the new 3X?

Is it as good, better or worse than the Aimpoint.  Or possibly better said is the Aimpoint worth the nominal $100 bucks more?

Thank you.

Fred

Will this fit on the back of my Larue QD Eotech mount?

I don't think it will line up right.  The LaRue has the raised pad so the magnifier will sit too high.  Maybe if you had a 553 up front it might work, bit I'm pretty certain that 511/512, 551/552 models won't line up.

Vastly improved accuracy at medium range distances
Increased target recognition and identification at greater distances
Achieves extremely rapid transition from Close Quarters Battle to medium range targeting – and back again
Retro-fits to all EOTech Sights – providing an instant upgrade path
The unique L3 EOTech Holographic technology allows the center dot to remain 1 moa in size, while the angular size of the target is magnified – only 47mm (1.8”) at 600m with the 4x magnifier
Zero is maintained in the Eotech HWS Red Dot Scope and not in the magnifier – you never lose zero, no matter if you are targeting through the EOTech magnifier or only through the EOTech HWS Riflescope
Both magnifier mounts provide elevation and azimuth adjustment to allow the reticle to be centered in the FOV of the magnifier

Paul,

I have two EOTech equipped carbines.  One has a Troy BUIS and the othet has an ARMS-40A2.  It would be nice to be able to use a magnifier with both carbines.

Will the non-flip 3x magnifier fit over a ARMS-40A2 BUIS?

problem is if the EOtech wont bridge the gap between the handguard and the reciever then you have to use the Larue riser or something similiar than your out of luck,,,

I hope they offer a version without a mount included..... that may drop the price down to $325-$350ish. I would much rather have a LaRue mount that operates with the spring loaded cam....  dont know if there would still be a way to center the recticle.. it sounds like the eotech mount is what actually controls centering... grrrrr.

I have gotten to play around with the aimpoint and the eotech (3x only) and by far prefer the eotech. It has an awesome mount from the factory and is clear and crisp glass plus the price is only a little more than an aimpoint which doesn’t come with a mount. Plus the mounts I have seen for the aimpoint that are flip mounts are around 200 bucks and some require you to cut the rubber shield on the magnifier.

The same company that makes the Eotech flip sight makes the quick flip for the AImpoint 3X that doesn't require the rubber cover to be cut. It is also a top notch mount.

FMJ,

Sorry it took me a while, but I did not have a 511 in the shop to look at it.

Here is a N battery EOTech with the 3X.  You will see that if you are jusing standard M4 handguards the EOTech can not move as far forward, so you will have limited rail space. (not enought for a 3XFTS and a buis)

img.photobucket.com/albums/v445/bravocompanyusa/IMG_0319.jpg

If you are using tactical handguards (they sit lower in relation to the flat top) the EOTech can be moved farther forward in an effort to fit the Holosight, the EOTech 3X, and a rear BUIS.

img.photobucket.com/albums/v445/bravocompanyusa/IMG_0334.jpg

img.photobucket.com/albums/v445/bravocompanyusa/IMG_0337.jpg
The optic can be flipped to the side to make any necessary adjustments to the buttons located on the rear of the EOTech.

3XFTS  comes with clear lens covers.

OK, so the next question is, how do I fit PVS-14s, a magnifier, and an EOTech all on the upper?

Has anyone compared the EOTech/mag combo to a Leupold CQ/T? I have a CQ/T but only looked through an EOTech with an Aimpoint magnifier once. Other than the much better light gathering/NVG capability with the EOTech, I can't justify a magnifier when I have the CQ/T...

What does the sight picture with the magnifier  look like? Do you still get the wide view or, is it reduced by the magnifier. Can you post a pic through it?

Isn't it Sampson?

My EOTech 3x FTS came in today.   I have it on my Bushy, but have not had a chance to take it to the range yet.    A friend of mine has one (mounted behind a 553), and it lines right up.  The 553's sit just a bit higher than the 552's, but with the adjustment screws on the flip mount, that is no problem.   Once the holosight is zeroed, you flip the 3x down and center the reticle using the adjustment screws in the flip mount.    Mine is mounted on an ARMS SIR, between an ARMS-40 and an EOTech 552.  I have mine mounted almost up against the 40 BUIS.  I have it set as close to the 552 as I can get it, but I do have to flip the 3x out of the way to operate the buttons.  (This may not be acceptible to some shooters).

The view is very clear.   The reticle is enlarged a bit, but the dot is still fine, and the entire reticle is very sharp.   The field of view is a little restricted, but not bad.

I can't wait to take it out and try it.
