Final edit to "What mount is that?" and a place holder for pics of my rifle when the scope arrives

Contacted the OP:
The mount used is a Smith Enterprise, Weaver style carry handle mount.  That mount is no longer available, now they only offer:
M4/M16 Carry Handle MIL STD 1913/STANAG Scope Mount, NSN 1005-01-534-8696

[ETA -  Probably help to reference the original, I was just afraid the pics would come along on a quote.

As it is this is was a great buy for $175, has very good glass for the price, looks fairly tacticool with the flip-up caps, and is compact enough to not look totally shitty on a carry handle.  The rings used are B-Square Sport Utility low which were all of about $12. A CAA 3/4" cheek piece makes for a good cheek weld.

Looks like Norcalwelder and I think alike. I even have those same rings he has, but not on this rifle.

ok now that i have had my posting ah ha moment!
Nikon prostaff 4-12x40 173.40 shipped from midway with Mildot reticule
Armalite mount-60.00-purchased new from local store
The glass is very clear and the mildot is only offered through midway for this particular nikon. plenty of eye relief all the way up to 12 power and the reticule stays in sharp contrast through all the powers as well. going to the range next week and will see how it all falls together.  Under 225 for scope and mount both new

the gun was sitting at an angle that is why the reticule looks canted, but this also shows how well the scope gathers light looking out of a dark room through a screen on an over cast day

Just received my Red Dot today so I don't have a range report on it. Looks great and seems to be well built. Bought this because of all the great reviews on it.

Primary Arms Multi-Reticle Red Dot Sight w/ High Cant Mount on a Stag Arms. Total with tax and shipping was $116.87

**UPDATE** - Went through 150 rounds and held zero to the last round.

Bushnell Trophy XTL DOA 250, 3x9x40 ($140); mounted in a Burris PEPR ($80), & a Bushnell TRS-25($80) on an NC STAR 1 o'clock offset mount ($13) modified to fit between the PEPR and the ARMS 40-lp flip sight ($120). The front sight is a Yankee Hill ($70) with a front pin from arconversions.com ($12).

Yes the XTL is designed as a muzzle loaders scope which is ideal, the scope is rated for .375 H&H magnums so the paltry .223/5.56 sure wont hurt it. The DOA crosshairs are nice because you have incremental hold over lines for further distances that do not clutter up the sight picture.

I have removed & re-installed the Burris and the cheapo Nc Star mounts several times with no change in my POI.

For what its worth A Redfield 1.75 x 5 "TV" style scope works amazingly well. Holds zero and has hundreds of rounds from my DPMS in 308. Not to mention what ever the previous owner did to it. Paid 20 bucks at a yard sale for it. Dropped it into a cheap set of Center Point rings and it is a great combo as far out as I have taken it (about 350 yards). This scope appears to be very solid. I have no real info on it. If anyone has any please share it with me.

crappy Reticle pic (but you get it)

FACOG.  Had it for years.  I think it was originally purchased from 1337tactical.com but you can find the same model on crwairsoft

It's clear, 4x mag has BDC that is actually somewhat accurate which suprised me and it takes a beating.  The only thing I miss compared to my issue ACOG is the tritium and fiberoptic to illuminate the reticle.  Other than that works just as well after shimming the incorrectly machined mount

For a budget optics, the PA micro dot delivers in a big way.  Having used mine heavily for the past several months, I would have no problem paying $200 for one.  They are an incredible bargain.

This weekend I tried out this Primary Arms RDS on a 653 clone:

The Smith mount it's on cost about as much as the sight. I like it; for some unknown reason I seem to shoot freehand a little better with its 5 MOA dot than I do with Aimpoints(?).
