Hey guys ..First forum post here today. and I need some help ..I have owned 10 plus ARs in the past but I want to build or at leat semi custom order 1 I have heard and read several post about Del-ton and Model1 sales. what I am wondering is how do they compare to each other in the quality of barrels they use and does anybody have any accuracy comparisins on the 2.

I want to build a
a3 flattop for I am so much better with target aquisition with a  scope
16 heavy barrel... chrome lined, chrome moly, stainless steel???dont know accuracy benifit of either
midlength or carbine
ergo grip
floated handgard or regular dont really know if there is a measureable difference in accuracy
command arms 6 position or ace skeleton stock
I have priced out both Model1 and Del-ton which is a bit more but has more options up front but dont know who has the better products. Er shaw makes the barrels for Model1 but dont know who makes them for Del-ton.
Maybe I am way over thinking this process. I am just a accuracy freak...maybe I am sharing to much with you folkshelp

If you are purely after accuracy, Go with a 20-24" chrome lined barrel and free float it.  That is depending on range....200-300+yards and you will see a difference.  Also consider a varmint style upper kit...

I want a accurate 16" or at least 1 moa would suffice. I have had 2 24 inch varmints and a 20 inch v-match which all shot sub moa with my reloads ...for pure accuarcy I have several custom bolt gunbs in Sniper configs that shoot almost single holes at 100 and slightly over 1 inch at 300 But a nice accurate 16 carbine is what I would like. Its eaither Del-ten or model1 I just want to know which one is better

I have used barrels from both Del-Ton and Model 1.  Model 1 uses E.R. Shaw barrels, and Del-ton uses Wilson and DPMS.

The E.R. Shaw barrel and Wilson Barrels both seem to be very accurateand have been completely reliable.  With quality ammo, and iron sights or non-magnified optics I have been able to get groups just over one inch at 100yds from the bench.  With scopes I have gotten groups just under one inch.  In practical shooting from offhand, kneeling and prone, I have had solid hits on steel plates and silhouetes from 5 yds to 100yds with no problem.

Go with Del-Ton. Netiher one of those are really Tier 1 Manufacturers, but Del Ton is the better of the two and has excellent customer service, chrome lined is the worst of all the options for accuracy, but will have the longest service life. Are you talking 1 MOA 3 shot groups or 1 MOA 10 shot groups? 3 shot groups should be doable w/ a good chrome moly or SS barrel, 10 shots you will be looking at noveske, kreiger, possibly WOA.
