ACE Socom is very tempting. Especially because a lower I have needs a new buffer tube. Kills two birds.

I’ve been thinking the LPVO route. Maybe something a little cheaper than a Short Dot though.

So I’m thinking about a Gordon clone in 300BLK.  Anyone know if there’s a dissy style barrel with pistol length gas and carbine length FSB?

CMMG makes a 12.5” with a mid length fsb. That’s all I know about since they make the same thing in 556.

You could get a set screw fsb and easily make it yourself to get the pistol/carbine combo you’re after.

You could do a Carbine gas 300 barrel and just adjust the gas port as needed? Might not run everything but as long as it cycles subs suppressed that's all that matters.

Could chop a 16" to 12.5" and have it profiled for the collar.

I may just go that route.  I’m sure he could figure out the gas port size I would need.

New project time! Got a chopped RIS II, did some assembling. Going after @cdholmes ‘s CQBRecce with a 12.5” barrel and F1 suppressor til I can get an AEM5. Gonna have to send it to D.Wilson soon with some other uppers to get proper profile. The Wilson looks good to me, but I’ll have to have part of the rail cut for the button to flip it up.

Very nice. The Wilson sight is such a good looking piece. I have one but keep flip flopping on a particular setup to use it with.

Haha thanks. This whole setup happened because of your 12.5” with it and a CMR rail! I think that’s a sleek lookin build. I think the Wilson is going to be kept to this one, and the original plan of the PRI in the MK4.

Who makes a good intermediate gas length 16" barrel? I've got an idea to do a mini Mod 1 with exposed gas block with my FF RAS medium. Might never come to fruition, just playing with the idea right now.

I know Odin Works used to, a company called Stich (maybe Stretch?) Precision but they’re pricey but apparently good, and Noveske off the top of my head. There’s an 18” Noveske with intermediate gas on the EE, but it’s 18”. If you wanna contact Black River tactical, I believe their optimum is shorter than intermediate but I’m not sure how much.

I've got a Wilson Combat 16" intermediate that's a performer, but I'm sure you're familiar with their barrels.

You guys think a barrel with a regular intermediate gas length system would put a spikes tapered gas block just in front of a URX ii? F$@k I just got that upper built up but already thinking of tearing it down for something I don’t even need but would look cool.

In my research, intermediate is 1.5" shorter than rifle length. So hand tight assemble a rifle length in there and backtrack 1.5". I'm working on getting rid of stuff to complete my NSW so I'm not actively on the hunt for an intermediate barrel. I wish I could see what my idea would look like for a 16" Mod 1 aesthetic with FF RAS medium. I've never seen it done but I think it would be awesome.

IIRC you posted a pic with the URX and a middy with the Spike's TGB and it was just shy of clearing it. Intermediate might not be super flush.

Edit: found it on page 89. Looks like it was .025" or so from clearing it on a middy. So it would be just about or a little over 1" past the URX, give or take whatever the original clearance it was missing.

That was a 16” Douglas contoured for an AEM5 and a 13.5” URX 3.1, no tapered gas block

Geno's Mk11 in 5.56

And earlier in this thread @bbridson was working on a M110 in 5.56. Can't remember where he is on it but some talk on page 70.

Now what would be cool is taking the KAC gas block and seeing if a taper could be put on  the front of it ala the Spikes block.

I have the same Colt marked weaver rail. Really solid setup. Wouldn’t mind grabbing another one of those rails and a 5000 since I love mine and you rarely see them. It’s a must have for clone correct goodness.

Well crap man. This is why I can’t have nice things cause they never stay together long enough lmao. So if I have a 10.75”, and the gas tube is past that and 1.25” itself, I figure it’d probably end around 12.5” plus the 2.4” for the AEM5 so looking at a 14.9-15.1” barrel with intermediate gas? And for a rifle length URX with rifle gas, 16.5”?

I don't know about everybody else, but I am ready for long barrels to make a comeback.
An old shooter told me "Some guns are heavy for a reason, a good reason."

I miss my 24" Varminter, even my 20" Gov Profile, and my next build might just be a 20" Krieger.

If you want I can whip out the calipers and give you the dimensions to see if you could taper it. I don't know what the collar needs so you'd have to figure that out.

@Outrider what is the gas port size you’re running on this? I’m gonna send my 20” to get cut down to do exactly this and was wondering what I should open it up to.

It's a WOA SPR barrel. Gas port was measured at .108 with a pin gauge. I run it with a JP Silent Capture spring with the lightest spring setup.

Here are the 3 flush fit setups over the years.

15.1 Midlength FF RAS

15.1 Midlength URX 2

16.5 Rifle URX 3.1
