$600 usd for an Aimpoint 5000? Lol, screw it, I'm going to stick with the incorrect 9000.
$600 USD is almost $1,000 Canadian pesos. |

Swapped to a waffle stock for Offhand shooting. Swapped the windage screw and hooded aperture out of the Bushmaster NM sight for an Armalite NM. Flippable and a little bit bigger aps - little more versatile. Judging by the hash marks, it looks like I went from 0.5 MOA to 0.1 MIL clicks, but an impropmtu box test showed it still 0.5 MOA. |

Good things come to those who (proactively) wait: finally. My friend Mike here at ARFCOM sold me this mint, extremely nice pre-ban Bushmaster upper (when Bushmaster was Bushmaster, in Maine). It lacks the bayonet lug (for now) and it does have a heavy barrel; but I think I am going to keep the barrel in; I don't have a HB in my collection, so that will be useful too, apart from the A2 looks.
Just need to find an appropriate A2 front post piece and call it a day. Lower is my beloved NDS A2 onto which used to sit - and sits still every now and then - my Colt A4 original upper. You'll forgive my adding posts after posts - but hopefully, it can be appreciated that the pictures (and the rifles) are decent.
I am going to take more pictures of these rifles; me being in my 50s, I grew up watching movies with these rifles in them. The heroes I loved, had these. So did the grunts. A sign of age, indeed: (top: Bushmaster pre-ban on NDS lower, both anodized black; bottom: vintage Colt upper on NDS lower in Colt gray-ish) A2 Clones by SoloDallas, on Flickr |

There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

Don't know about you guys but as for me, I am looking constantly at getting better (and inspiring with pictures as well as being inspired by them).
So, I did go ahead and changed the pistol grip of this newer project A2 (the black one shown above) with a more appropriate one. The one on there in the previous pictures was the contemporary Colt one - real, authentic Colt as seen on current Colt M4s. But the A2s had different ones on them; just ever so slightly, but you can still tell; the protuberances for the finger grooves, for example, were different on them. On and for A2s, I like them in fact the way I got them on now on both rifles; these are the authentic Colt ones from the 1980s and the 1990s. A2 pistol grips nowadays can look pretty shitty with all the subproduction you see around. The other Colt clone A2 (the grey one) already had a Colt A2 grip from the 1980s. PS this newer Colt A2 grip (also from the 1980s, but un-issued) was purchased at the Specialized Armament Warehouse of which I have been a fan of. 2 with proper A2 pistol grip by SoloDallas, on Flickr A2 with proper A2 pistol grip by SoloDallas, on Flickr |
