Technically it's an A2 upper with field sites
Most people call it a C7 upper though.

I’ve got a few BCM at LMT SBR’s in the safe I can slap them on.

I finally finished an A2 build, mainly made from leftover parts in the bin! I just wanted to post some photos and see what ya'll think! In the bottom photo, the cat decided to pose with the rifle! I also wanted to post here and recommend John Thomas' work. When I got the barrel, it was used, and the original A2 post had been removed. I sent a pre-drilled A2 post and the pre-drilled barrel to John at Retro Arms Works, and he welded up the holes. Then he mounted the gas block for me, and I had the barrel back in less than a week! As always, his work is great, affordable and quick! I will definitely be working with him again in the future!

Cheap, quick, easy builds. Nothing really special about them.
I like the full stocks on my carbines.
I also like the mid-length set-up carbine barrels best for shooting.
I also like the A1 "E" stock best on them.
I was making room in one of the safes for some other builds and took the pictures while I had them out.
SO, Here is a sample of a few of them.
NOTE: I do have a few with the adjustable stocks on them, I was not in that safe today.
(Pictures next time I take out some of them)

I have two "go to rifles" worth about $3k a piece once you taken into account accessories, lasers, lights, optics, etc. My M4gery is also in the same boat. My venerable old Colt A2 was my first AR15 purchase, which I bought because I couldn't afford optics, I grew up with Colt A2s and because they were cheap and unwanted back in 2010. I eventually replaced my postban barrel with a takeoff from a Colt AR15A4 I cannibalized. I decided to make it cooler, heavier, less handy and less useful.

Say hello to my little friend.

I built one like that for my little brother years ago on a surplus FN A2 upper. He still has it but never shoots it. Yours is sweet!

@Couch-Commando.  That is FREAKING COOL.  Very nice build.  You da man!!!!  I'd like to see the heads turn at the range with that one.  How much does it weigh like that?  Does that grenade launcher work or just for show?  Either way it has my vote as coolest A2 in the forum.

It is a registered destructive device built on a Colt receiver with a DSA barrel. I have all the bits to attach it to either my A2 or my M4. I definitely turned some heads when I confirmed my zero was the same the other day.

It is 11.8 pounds on my M4 (with Aimpoint, PEQ2A and Surefire M951) and 11 pounds on the A2.

I am now considering even just buying the handguards - is this something cool or a nerdy foolish thing that has no use besides having a 203 which I don't have?

Chalk rounds are fun. You can make parachute flares and star clusters. You can make all sorts of things actually. I just got it so I have no experience reloading yet. The lift charges are 38 S&W blanks or shotgun primers for the post part. I primarily intend to shoot chalk.

Oh man that would be fun.  There was someone else a while back posted one too.  And he was shooting chalk rounds I believe.  Unless that was you.  But it was a couple of years ago and it may have been on an A1....  I forget now who it was.

Here is my contribution. I was trying to replicate a few rifles in some of the arms rooms ive been in. The initial plan was to use the a1 lower for my IDF build, but after over distressing it and ultimately making it look like shit, I needed a new plan. I had this a2 upper laying around, and noticed how similar the finish was to High temp rustoleum. So I sprayed the lower down, baked it and distressed it.

Parts Breakdown:
Colt CM upper
Colt Grey Charging Handle
Colt BCG
FNMI Barrel
Brownells Lower
Colt Furniture
FN FCG
Small parts are Colt/Aero
