With the basic rifle complete, I decided to do some tinkering and try out some components I hadn't ever used or didn't have much experience with. That led B5 SOPMOD stock and a P&S M4 RAS (though I do have an M5 RAS on my dissipator). Somewhere along the way I discovered this thread and ideas started swirling about. Through some good fortune, as well as bad luck, I ended up with this: https://photos.smugmug.com/Guns-Stuff/Rifles/Colt/i-5hXzVQX/0/9408c8c4/XL/IMG_6790-XL.jpg Not all of the bits are exactly correct. The Aimpoint is a PRO, trigger a Geissele SSP, and charging handle is a BCM small-latch. I have a bunch of mil-spec charging handles and should have at least swapped one in for the picture. The KAC sight is current production with the new style knob. I guess the ambi-safety isn't period correct either, but it was installed before the cloning began and I like having two levers as I shoot rifles lefty sometimes. The alterations bug the purist in me somewhat, but my practical/functional side prefers them. It wasn't until the rifle was done that I realized it satisfied a bit of nostalgia for me. The very first AR I ever handled belonged to a former coworker, and was a Bushmaster M4gery with an ACOG, Knights RAS, and Surefire light. I remember thinking it was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen and was the motivation for me to purchase my own AR soon thereafter. Good memories. View Quote |

Question for the group. Putting together another 14.5 upper for my block 1.5 to share a lower with my MK18. I have a LMT m203 I have on another cut down 6920 upper. Should I go for a socom or standard profile barrel? I want to switch out the m203 on this upper and was wondering am I losing much stability or durability with M203 not using a stiffer socom profile ? Also how much accuracy difference while there be for regular semi auto (IE not mag dumping) between standard and socom barrel you think? Thanks.

Nice. Don't see the insight light cvl/ vli setup too often. A peq5 would nice especially since I don't have night vision.

Are there any offset light mounts compatible with the SureFire M951 that would be appropriate for Block I?

Ya, if it worked, it was used. Then there is always the arms17 that will fit m952s m9xx etc. there is an old school mount for the 660 available in the EE that would work?
For the 6z, any beat up/ painted 1" ring will suffice. |
