Nice...what optic do you plan on running? I think an M2 with LaRue 152 mount on the FF rail section of the RAS would line up well.

You read my mind!  I'm just not sure which carbine yet, 6920 or the 6720 I don't own yet...  My M4 clone started as a 6920 Oem-1 that I got a 14.5" for off the EE. And then my spare 16" barrel turned into another 6920...

My M4 clone already has the standard KAC rail on it.

Looking to get rid of my su-231 off my 1.5 and was wondering what people are paying for these now are? Looking to replace it with a ta01 or ta01nsn. I think this would be better for a 14.5 inch gun. Thanks for the help guys.

Send it back to EOTech for full retail refund....I sent three back.

The market is shit on the EE for used optics that are getting banned from the field, and replaced across the country.

Hate to dig up an old post, but I plan on going this route. Bought a couple 80% lowers. Emailed John and got some ideas for rollmarks, I'm just trying to nail down the specifics on the process I need to follow with these to make sure everything is kosher.

1) Once I get them in, mail to John. Mind you these are unmodified, un-milled out lowers.
2) He engraves them and sends them back to me.

Now this is the part that I'm a little fuzzy on.

3) I would like to mill out the lowers at this point. Once I do they become serialized lower receivers.
4a)Living in Illinois, would I need to send them through an FFL to someplace like US Anodizing? They'll Type-III hardcoat it, then send it back to my FFL for me to pick up?
4b)Or can I send straight to them directly?

Eotechs are selling used for what they always have. The discontinued 553 models go for retail prices.

Once you mill them, they have to go to a FFL'd refinisher. You can mail them direct and they will come back to your house. I wound up using Synergy Metal Finishers in FL. Only had it for a day or 2 before it was sent back out to me.

Another way you can do it is to get them anodized AFTER engraving but before the final machining. The areas that are completed on most lowers are internal or holes. I know a couple retro guys that have sprayed the inside and holes on the lower with norrells and then baked it. When assembled you couldn't even tell it had been done.

Technical questions and opinions needed:

I have a factory complete 6920 socom, came with Rogers super stock, I like it, but clone acceptable since it came from factory and has colt logo?
Next, I just got a tan 553 but only position I like it in requires bridging the d ring gap, gtg? I figure poi shift can't be that bad since the kac rail is where the lasers are mounted, what am I missing?
Last, my suppressor is a yhm which I know = much beating from you all but I also have a 249f flash hider and I've been contemplating sending the upper to adco for a pin and weld. Problem is I'm only so-so on the whole suppressor thing but I'm lacking confidence in going dedicated unsuppressed (shtf you know). I do have another rifle that will become a permanent host. I shoot with ear pro anyways 100% of the time anyways...should I fo?

1. Factory has nothing to do with clone correct. What is issued determines clone correct. Rogers stock, no go.

2. Put it wherever you like it, we've seen them on the handguard, on top of a carry handle, etc.

3. If SHTF, you won't care about a pinned FH.

What you are missing with bridging the gap is the optic will be attached to TWO different mounting planes.
1. The rail moves: it moves with the barrel, every time a shot is fired. IT moves with pressure applied: lying prone usuing a sand bag, using a foregrip, loading a bipod, and with sling tension. The barrel and hand guard on a non free float system moves independently from the upper receiver.

2. The upper receiver is more solid and Isn't going to move like the hand guard will.  No matter how straight they look the hand guard and upper receive are no perfectly parallel with each other. Thus causing inconsistencies with the mounting plane.

I had my 553 "bridging the gap" on my sopmod block II with the dd risii.  First group at 25y impacted lower left 18" from where I was aiming. I moved the 553 back about 4-5 rail spaces so that it was as far forward on the upper receiver as possible then fired an other group. That group was 6" low left without me adjusting the optic itself.

I scored some Aimpoint QRP mounts Keeping one for my strikefire and put the other two on the EE.

i think it makes the strikefire on my block 1 look a little more like an aimpoint.

I have a problem

Gun to the right is just from spare parts in my box. Not 100% since it's a spikes upper and bcg, but we can chalk the grip up to personal customization

And... the barrel is an m4 truth be told. Still looks legit!

The only "problem" I see is that you have an odd number. Just send me one to even out the collection. That would put me at 2, so we'd both have even numbers.

There still may be a #4 coming along... soon I'll be joining the mk12 thread as well. Too bad those are not as cheap to build

Yeah. It's bad when you can call the M4 and CQBR builds "budget" when you're talking Mk12.

Does anybody have those pics of the Marines with the extended rails from ergo. Since I'm gonna be getting rid of my block II I'm thinking of adding one to my block I clone

Hey brother:

I spoke to Synergy about a month ago to anodize my lower, and the owner said he was to busy to take individual orders. I waited another month and sent the lower to Victor at U.S. Anodizing a few days ago. Victor said he was still completing his big job, but if I was willing to wait he would get it done when he could. Thanks for all your help and an alternative.
