Saving me the time to search these past 1xxx pages I may or may not have tried to comb; are there any pictures of a CQBR (mod0 thru block2) with an ACE stock (a la mk12modh)?

Yeah the AU website description is a bit confusion.  I contacted them and they confirmed these are marked "M4 Carbine" with a serial # that starts with CR.  I would expect they look just like the picture.

Quick way to spend $600 you weren't planning to!

Dave Ramsey needs to modify his Financial Peace guidance to include cloning and be able to account for $600 Colt M4 Carbine-marked lowers that drop at a moment's notice It should say something like "Drive an effin' '86 Toyota Tercel if you have to in order to free up funds to jump on those rare parts you need for your clone build without using credit to pay for them. This is the way."

Same. If anything, I am lowering my average cost-basis for all my Colt M4 lowers at $595.

Not gonna lie, I was eyeing down and pricing out uppers/rifles. The Mk16/17/20 thread doesn't help.

I'll be working on it.

[Last Edit: SlasherMcGee] [#25]
Need some advice from the experts here... My blk 2 currently has the old DD 10.3" barrel with the .082 gas port. It's super over gassed when shooting suppressed so I'm looking for a smaller gas port + clone correct barrel.

I found an FN 10.3" SOCOM with a ~.069 gas port, pre-dimpled.

*Are FN barrels used in the wild?
*Do issued rifles have low profile gas blocks installed via set screws on pre-dimpled barrels(not pinned)?
*Any idea if a pre-dimpled FN barrel(2 dimples) would work out-of-the-box(i.e. no alignment issues) with a DD low profile gas block(https://danieldefense.com/mk12-low-profile-gas-block.html) All the rifles' I've ever built had the gas blocks pre-installed or the pin slot pre-drilled.

Thanks in advance

Edit: Continued trying to search through this thread and found at least one post regarding the surplus uppers acquired through TA that had FN barrels and set-screwed gas blocks.. So I might have at least answered one part of my question.

Yes, SOCOM been using those barrels for several years now.  GP .070" and predimpled for set screws.  Mk12 gas block is the correct gas block for build.  Use a drop of red loctite 242 on the screws and torque to 25 in lbs.  Lost count how many I've rebuilt over the last 6 yrs.

Switched out the hotdog selector for a correct one to appease the clone gods. Also the MRDS mount came in for the elcan. It was black so a light layer of paint and it will stand in till I find a real FDE one.

@Cloner556

Is it just like a warranty replacement or something?  Did you just reach out to DD and ask them?  I have an older .08x gas port barrel and it would be cool to get the correct .070 ported barrel.  It would also give me a fun excuse to tear down and rebuild my upper for no real good reason, since I can’t even own a suppressor in my state.

Curious about the change to the gas block...this is the description on the Brownells MK18 DD stripped upper.  It’s a little unclear that they are using the MK12 GB...I don’t understand why they don’t just say it’s the “MK12 Gas Block”.  Makes me think it’s something different now:

“The gas system is made up of the set screw Torx low-profile gas block CNC machined from 4140 hardened steel with mil-spec heavy phosphate coating.”
