Mk 18 / CQBR (Page 650 of 1573)

I am finally getting an A1 lower to replace the A2 lower on my CQBR I built back in 2010. It just left Nodak Spud today and is enroute to Ident Marking for engraving. The Mk18 currently sports a DPMS SBR lower and a LMT 10.5" upper. I am finally going to get it a lot closer to being correct. It has only taken me 5 years to do this.

Here it is in its current form.

I had to do a double take when I saw your username in the Mk18/CQBR thread.

Looks great man. The spud full fence A1 will be the icing on the cake.

I will trade you for cash.
I thought you had a bunch?

No I mean this FDE rail lol.

I had 10 of those brownells rails and only sold them for 175 each.  I do not want a black one.

This was clipped on in front of my CQBR some of the time, so clone worthy?

Just get a new plunger pin for it, the original one is probably worn.
Where can I find one? My Google fu is weak
Might have to call a stock manufacturer. Try JT distributing. Or just use the hardware from a cheap M4 stock.

You punch out the roll pin that goes through the nut and threaded portion of the plunger, under the stock length adjustment lever. Then, unscrew the nut. The assembly will then come out the hole on the top of the stock.

I did a little experiment with my EO today:

Screenshot_2015-12-18-12-09-33 by azoutdoorsman, on Flickr

2015-12-18_12-08-23 by azoutdoorsman, on Flickr

2015-12-18_12-07-15 by azoutdoorsman, on Flickr

2015-12-18_01-02-35 by azoutdoorsman, on Flickr

No zero shift that I could discern. The front and rear lenses on the EOtech were a little fogged up from condensation, but it was on the OUTSIDE of the lens and wiped off easily.

Sight was outside approximately an hour. Checking the zero against the sights eliminates ammo as a variable, but is less precise than actually firing the rifle. However, I am confident that I could have hit a torso at 300 yards before and after the temp change.

I may have the wrong thread but I though some of you had talked about cutting down the DD FSP but it may had been in the M4A1 thread.

No sir, you are correct, it was this thread.   Started with ConspiroAgnew showing his chop job, then JohnnySasaka20 posted pics of his genuine MK18 FSP RIS II rail.  I believe that rail is shown/listed on the SOCOM Equipment "poster", although I don't believe they were actually ever fielded.

Yea a legit su230 would've been awesome but the reticule is pretty much the same out to 700 yards so it's not a big deal to me.

Drew, certainly didn't mean to imply that having a civie reticle SpecterDR made you a lesser being.  I only wonder why they (Elcan) feel compelled to make them different.

Yeah Idk either. Sorry I got snarky. Long day I guess. I suppose they wanted to keep a similar reticile as in the m145 for the .mil maybe, but who knows.

Those who have a Pelican 1520, can it fit a 14.5" upper diagonally? I think I remember some using 1600s for 14.5s but I'm not sure about the 1520.

You're not alone.  Know what though, when I use mine to hunt with, I throw on the Surefire 600U.  (blasphemy)

I barely use that thing either since it eats through battery like cray cray. Mostly use my 952V and I.R./white WML

Had a WMX. Had a M3X. Have used all the Surefires. M600/M300/M952/M900

InForce WML is my favorite on the CQBR.

I thought the WML had cracking issues around the housing?

I've heard that, but yet to see it. One of my buddies who runs his rigs much harder than I has exclusively used WMLs since 2013 now. He's extremely happy with them thus far.

Stukas87 wrote in one of his Defense Review articles that SF guys are using WMLs and like them. Haven't had any issues with mine. I'm getting ready to buy another one.

4P will be going on the painted CQBR shortly. In turmoil about painting the T2 on top, leaving it as is, or going with a T1 instead to appease the clone police. Thoughts?
