Hundred bucks for the barrel/FH/gas block. The guy have me a deal and he knew it. I give him decent business so I'm sure it was due to that. Not sure exactly what I'll do with it yet. |

I have a chance to pick up either a DD M4A1 or DD MK18 at a great price and I can't decide what to snag... Anyone here have any input? I'd probably get the MK18 in pistol configuration and SBR it myself.

Hey guys. Can you all school me on the placard that is on the mag well on the CQBR a few posts up? I was a 13F, but it was back in the day....1984-90. I never had a sticker like that on my rifle, and I know it must be for some sort of inventory control. I figured it might be something I might like to put on my clone. Since I'm asking, where would I get one of those, should I go that route?

I would definitely go with the LaRue 7.0. Ditched the Aimpoint because I'm just better with the Eotech, as much as I like battery life etc on the Aimpoint...

Any reason why you ditched the Aimpoint? My colt barrel is on the way and will be sent to adco for the 10.3/.070 treatment ASAP. Currently debating on T1 or M2/3 and what rail to go with RAS, FF RAS, or Larue 7.0 since all have been seen in the wild. I'd go LT as it is the most "modern" of the options. It has my favorite quad rail profile being on the skinnier side (may not matter to you) and is essentially an improved FF RAS with the keeper anti-rotation system. I remember Trey Knight or Kevin Boland even giving the LT rail props some time ago as being an improvement on their design. |

From what I've read here, .070 is the correct spec for the 10.3" barrels. I've got a 16" Colt 6920 barrel that I'm going to send to ADCO to be cut down to 10.3 . I e-mailed them about gas ports and they said they have a size that they usually use for 10.3" barrels but didn't specify. I'm not sure if it's .070 though. Any issues with different types of ammo with the .070 port and does it run reliably. Mine won't be suppressed if that makes a difference. What buffer weight should be used? |

What buffer weight should be used? .070 is crane spec but it's optimized for one type of ammo. .070 can cause short stroking when running lighter ammo like steel (Wolf, Tula, etc…) or known light loads like PMC .223. Most companies like ADCO and SAW have their own spec that will insure reliability with most commercial ammo. It's usually somewhere around .074. Let ADCO do their own size. It will be reliable and you'll be very happy with it. Start with an H2 buffer and adjust as necessary. |

Mil uses an H2 with the .070 port. On both 14.5 and 10.3. They only run M855, M855A1, 262, and 318 AFAIK though, which are all fairly hot rounds compared to cheap civ ammo.
For this reason I've been using a H buffer instead of an H2 on my 14.5. So it will reliably run everything I throw at it, while still having enough weight to not be over gassed. ETA I also would start with a H2 on the 10.3 and see what it does with your shittiest ammo. |

With a Colt 14.5, DD 10.3, LMT 10.5, Aero 10.5, Noveske 16, and Noveske 10.5 I have used an H3 with good results suppressed or unsuppressed. |
