So I'm now going to build a mk18 clone I believe but want to change just a couple of small things. First of all, I'd like to run a B5 sopmod instead of the gen1 since it's a bit cheaper, and it has qd cups, I like a qd sling better. Next goes for the cqd mounts. Are they necessary? Hk hooks are kinda annoying. And I'd like to run a larue carbine rail instead of the KAC or the RIS due to availability and sling mounts.
Other than that, planning on a 10.5" barrel with a, arms 41bl front and running bcm for most of the other parts! Sound like a solid mk18 clone? Also for optic, how about a vcog? 1-6 like on the EOD Guns, just a tad different flavour! |

View Quote As stated you won't get any flak on the stock, most Mk18 I ran across were already missing the sling mount. The 10.5" bbl is acceptable as well and a SF 3 prong. All the other issues is what makes a Mk18. CD |

So, I've decided to be more "responsible" and practical by getting an EXPS3-0 instead of a SU230. Figured I could do a lot with the extra $1,500 I'd save. Could put some of it towards an ATPIAL and some NV in the future.
I just have a quick question. Is there a difference between the EXPS3-0 that I can find on Opticsplanet and those which are issued to the military? In other words, is there a clone correct version of the optic (such as the SU230), or is it universal? |

None of the MARSOC EXPSs I've seen in pics have the SU-231A markings.

I think the 231 and 231a have a deeper water proof rating and go through different testing from EOTech. I also remember reading years back that 553s with 231 markings aren't real 231s, they're just 553s using a 231 baseplate. You can tell a real .mil 231 because it won't have any L3 or EOTech markings, just like the 231a. And yes, as someone as rightly already pointed out, almost all pics of MARSOC using the series it's just a regular EXPS whereas ARMY pics are almost always 231as. |

Hey Mk18 crew!
Wanted to ask about the "correctness" of a couple items. I doubt my build will ever actually achieve perfect clone status, but I'm trying to keep it somewhat authentic. Asking about the below items, and how "close" they are to being correct or seen/used in the field. X300 with or without pressure switch kit AXTS raptor charging handle Black KAC front sight Aimpoint T1 Thanks for the help! Hopefully post some pics up soon. |
