btw, what's the story on these DD gas blocks. Seem a little smaller than the MK12. Are they a DD product or outsourced?

Yes. The commercial DD CQBR uppers have some form of DD logo on the receiver, and BCG. The DD URGs SOCOM receives do not have any DD markings.

It's not as if clones built on Colt upper receivers/barrels really lose anything should it be true - they're still obviously correct. Although, I suppose all the effort to scratch build an upper and have a Colt barrel cut would lose some "elite status" if you can just purchase an off the shelf DD Mk18 SOCOM upper and be 100% correct, lol. The available evidence seems to point fairly convincingly to the conclusion that DD URGs were or are in use in some form by SOCOM. Perhaps not in any great quantity, but it's reasonable to suppose it's true. I don't see any reason it need be so contentious to discuss it. How do you know for certain that the uppers included BCG and CH? Was that stated specifically by a DD rep, or was it just confirmed that DD uppers (in whatever configuration) are fielded by SOCOM? I would assume that if they were supplied complete minus a muzzle device, DD would have sourced their CHs from PRI and not used their own. Also, wouldn't a DD supplied upper be minus the Colt "C" marking? I'm going off the supposition that Colt upper receivers supplied to the military have the "C" mark. I suppose if you ever come across a CQBR upper with just a forge mark and no "C" during a rebuild, that would be pretty strong evidence. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/IMG_1235_uppers.jpg CD |

So the Mod 0 used A1 lowers, do the Block 2 MK18s have A1 lowers in the wild as well? Or are those all M4A1 or A2 lowers? I am turning in 4 SBR lowers this week so trying to get my bearings straight, Starting MK18s FINALLY. Unfortunately, cannot seem to find a KAC NT4 suppressor in stock currently.

One of my co-workers at the PD recently got out of Ranger BN in the last 3 years or so and said that all their lowers were Colt M4A1 with a mix of uppers. He said they did have a few unmarked DD uppers in the mix of the arms room. All the rifles were wearing the RIS II rails.
Take that for what it's worth but I have no reason to not believe him. |
|

There's no reason not to believe anything on this subject. Anyone capable of critical thought and deductive reasoning knows the reality. Reality is very tough for some, though.

His verbiage of that they had "a few" DD uppers in the mix as well...
Meaning, all the uppers weren't just Colt, weren't just DD, etc. "A few unmarked DD uppers in the mix." "All the rifles were wearing the RIS II rails." |

Yeah yeah. I get it. Everyone is lying. It's a massive deep state conspiracy. People say the uppers are there, but they're actually not. I'm not saying it's aliens. But it's probably aliens.

View Quote One thing I never liked. A long time ago it was known that all new M4A1s would have heavy "SOCOM" barrels. People just assumed that 14.5“ RIS II URGs (non FSP) had heavy barrels as well. Turns out, they have regular M4 barrels proven by Combat_Diver and documents I've seen. Many in this thread still don't know this. Anyway, I won't believe there are non FSP uppers with heavy barrels until I see a picture of an issued rifle with one or official documents that say so. Same goes for LMT and DD URGs. Regardless, the billboard URGs people own aren't "clone correct", no matter how you slice it. |
|
|
This has never been about acting like the DD billboard receivers are clone correct. It's always just simply been about reality. The narrative in here as continued to be it's brand x or y, but never z. That's not true. And we've known that for a long time.
|
|
|
So by the standards of those claiming DD uppers aren't clone correct the same can be said about those custom engraved 80% lowers.....
This is getting ridiculous, I know where I stand on the issue and also trust the industry insiders who have spoken up. That's all I'll say. |

Can anyone who recently purchased an upper from Brownells confirm the hang tag date? My upper showed up with with what appears to be a March hang tag date and appears to have a couple of cosmetic blemishes. The blemishes don't bother me as much as the hang tag date since I plan to shoot this upper mainly suppressed. I'm worried that I might have received somebody's returned upper and that mine will have the larger gas port. I have no way of checking the gas port size.
