Doesn't the military teach trigger control? |

Destroyed weapons? Where are they being sent to? Battlefield pick ups from Vietnam. They would get connexes full of weapons, and sometimes smaller artillery pieces. Basically rebuilt what they could and shipped it back out. Artillery pieces were usually done and cut up...not an easy task from what he told me. Sometimes the stuff was so damaged, the weapon could not be cleared in the field. My dad's friend, couldn't clear a M16 and put the torch to it anyway. He has some nice scars on his arms as a result. My dad named me after him. |

It's possible that he simply swapped on a Colt carbine stock and dropped the 203; he could have traded the 203 to somebody for something else - I have no idea. SOG recon guys were widely know for their ingenuity, especially in the weapons and combat gear department. They often modified their weapons to suit their needs; I've run across some very interesting configurations during the course of my research. Dosen't that leave the bottom of the hand guard open to the barrel? Or is it possible that he popped a hand guard half on to replace it, if it would fit? I don't know if you could do that either either style, honestly...But I'm thinking it perhaps may be an attempt to get better ventilation, since I see no reason to go through the hassle of removing the launcher and not bothering to pop some new hand guards on? |

The only marking I see looks to be serial No. I can't believe someone took the time to Photoshop the picture to hide the Mfg. Maybe a "clean" weapon so it can't be traced to a country of origin. CIA? Nah, the commies removed the original markings. Its a Colt most probably.
It is a Colt, at least the upper. Just below the sight there is a "C" and "H". I took the pictures, all markings were removed from the lower and refinished. Serial number is visible in some of my other pictures if any of the old-timers out there might know whose it was...

USAF M-16A1 with M-68 (not retro part). I decided to take this instead of M-4. I added the M-68 set-up to Qual and passed. I went up against airmen with M-4s, some who failed/ had to re-Qual...they did like it when I went full auto during the burst session. This might be my next project build or maybe GUU-5P... http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww278/ol-Dan/RtsideM16A1GUU-5P-1-1.jpg M-16A1 & two variants of GUU-5Ps still in use |

Thanks for these. I'm going to show these to my old man. He was a Brown Water Swabby in Vietnam and these'll trip his trigger. He used to tell me stories about taking Marines and SEALS up the river as dusk, dropping them off, then waking up just before dawn and watching the fire team swimming back to their slip, smoke rising behind them in the pre-dawn light. |
