Don’t forget to add an additional 200 for NFA and maybe another 200 for a can. Be prepared to wait a while.

Strictly home defense? Suppressed?
I love my 12.5" with a k can for a do it all rifle. Great outside and useable inside. My wife's 10.3" is awesome inside, even with a full sized can. Very compact and handy, moreso with a k can or no can. Easy to make hits at distance if needed, but it is strictly for in the house/on the property so I'm ok sacrificing some velocity. An 11.5" with k can would be the same length as the above 10.3". I started down this route with a 10.5" rail, but that made the gun feel a lot bigger than the 10.3" with 9.3" rail, even though it isn't that much bigger. I wasn't able to sell that barrel (Spike's CHF pencil), so I built it with a 9.3" rail and it does feel pretty handy. My HD/property gun is an 8" 300 Blk. It feels tiny compared to the 10.3". However, you said you want to stick with 5.56. If you don't want to sacrifice velocity with a 10.3" and the main goal is inside, go 11.5". If you want a little more range and not a mainly indoors gun, go 12.5". ETA: FN made barrel. Only lighter 11.5" is the BCM when I did my research. https://lanbosarmory.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=26499&referrer=CNWR_4191340829622 |

Either length will work fine. I use an 11.5 criterion on my home defense gun. No complaints.

Still 16" as far as I am concerned. Maybe a little unwieldy, but effective and no paperwork to be concerned about.

If your not stuck on a chf barrel centurion has the mil spec chrome lined barrels on sale for $140. 12.5” in stock. They also have the chf 12.5” in stock for $300. My build in progress has the 12.5 mil spec barrel using their pinned gas block.

HD only? Between the two, go 11.5” even though 12.5” is mo betta.

For home defense I would go 11.5" over 12.5" for sure.
I would even consider a 10.3" Daniel Defense hammer forged barrel if I was using a can... but their upper is too expensive. If I had to do a complete assembled upper that is in stock, I would go 11.5" ELW BCM barrel with MCMR 10. You will want a BRT gas tube or a Superlative Arms gas block if you dont want your gun to be over gassed when suppressed. Remember the BCM ELW profile is a .625" gas block while DD is a .750" size. While the BCM MCMR is fine, I prefer the MI Combat rail. It is slightly lighter. slightly less expensive, slightly better anti rotation feature, slightly easier install and has integrated QDs. Also the MI Combat rail has more size options. If building, I would go this route for a budget rail. If I was doing a rifle that I wanted to tune separately for suppressed and unsuppressed on an 11.5" barrel, I would use a Rifle Speed gas block and 9.5" MI rail. Or I would use a 10.5" rail with the 11.5" if doing a Superlative Arms gas block tuned to a single ideal unsuppressed setting. If you just want an assembled currently in stock upper I would get a complete BCM ELW Fluted 11.5" with MCMR 10 rail. Then swap a BRT gas tube, Superlative Arms gas block, or Rifle Speed gas block based on budget and needs. |

Check out the Sionics 11.5 RGP barrels, great balance on them and love the contour, similar to BRT or Geissele. I use one 100 percent suppressed as my SHTF weapon.

Quoted: Listen homie... Every round is a defensive round with a 20" barrel View Quote With that said, I vote 12.5”. And pretty much any silencer. But a 20” is a perfectly valid choice. I think the arguments that can be made for it are more compelling than the arguments that can be made for shorter than 10”. |

I'd do a quality 11.5 with an intelligenty thought out taper to it. There are many these days that have a similar profile. I use a criterion core and it ballances great, even with a can. You have a few options if centurion doesn't pan out. I'm a huge fan of the tapered profile and most of the better company's offer it.

Clone? Correct. FBI HRT Build I’m running the Sionics ERGP barrel on my HRT clone and it shoots extremely smoothly, especially with the A5 system. |
