Those look great. Just bought a Sabre A3 from you with no regrets, though. Good to see them coming back into the market.
|
|
Not that it makes a nickles worth of difference but I like the way the outside of the receivers does not say manufactured by Vltor like the Sabre receivers. I also like the fact it comes in an origonal style box. Good job Steyr.

It doesn't look like these will be shipped with a soft case
Is this true? |

I like the muzzle lock nut, more streamlined and business like than the fancy old one. And a big thanks to Pete , Alex and Herbert for all their hard work .

Are your NATO packages still going to be a going concern? Would best bet just be to bug you via email for costs and such??

Pete Athens What would you guys want to see come out of Steyr? 9MM kits, .22lr kits, tan stocks and a forward vertical grip with a slot for pressure switch (steyr already makes these for the SF model) What AUG? The A3 SF model Please bring the A3 SF to the US, either as a complete gun or just the receiver. http://i2.guns.ru/forums/icons/forum_pictures/002076/2076084.jpg 9mm Kits - We are pushing it very hard .22 kits hopefully they will get them running good and make available soon Tan Stocks - I'm not 100% sure 500 guys/gals would want one (min run is 500) SF AUG is possible but would be more expensive because of the optics, can't rule it out Grips with slots shouldn't be a problem to get, I'm sure I could get them if available. What about an AUG A3 like the one below? Pete Athens |

|
Pete,
I for one want the Tan stock, for no other reason than all my other rifles are in Tan/FDE Ross |
|
I don't think we will see the A3 SF. It is badass though. It would probably have a price of over 3000. With what there is now I don't know for sure if I would spring for that but it would be very tempting.
|
|
I'd buy a tan one if it were the same price just to have one of 500. Also, left handed NATO stock is a great idea,

My steyr wishlist:
.22Lr conversion 9mm conversion 9mm XS model SF model F90 model in the future tan stocks |

What would you guys want to see come out of Steyr? Pete Athens Id like to see the versions of the SF scope and the A1 scope that could replace the A3 top rail. These two options could allow a A3 owner the opportunity to turn his A3 into a SF version or a A1 version just buy changing the scope. |

If that or something very similar would be made available I would buy atleast 2 right away. |

I have one other suggestion...
On the 9mm barrels, the barrel doesn't use a "gasblock/piston" part, but still has the pressed on barrel "interlock mechanism/VFG" sleeve. The shorter length "interlock/vfg" part of the 9mm XS would be more convenient for some of us who are going to be cutting the barrels down as short as possible. The regular 9mm piece as described above doesn't allow for maximum compactness. If Steyr/FN could accommodate that request, it would be appreciated. |
|
Agreed on the XS 9mm . Keep it simple and lightweight -just like the picture.
Pete, what is your role with Steyr Arms these days? I thought you were co-owner in MSR? |
|
All of these wishes depend on cost, but that 9mm XS is sweet. The guns with tons of rails on them don't excite me at all. I like the more classic look, feel, and weight. If you need that many rails for an AUG, you're doing it wrong.
|
|
.22 LR would be nice.
Whether it was a conversion kit or dedicated rifle really wouldn't matter to me. Love their rail, but we're going to get rails from domestic guys. It would take Steyr to give us .22 LR. |

As I've mentioned over the phone in the past, it would be great to get the optic itself as well. Looks like the A3 SF uses an A2 reciever; the optic would be an awesome addition to USRs and A2 AUGs. |

Josh, the A3 SF does not use the same receiver as the A2s and USRs do. The SF scope will not work on the A2s. Pete Athens |

Pete-
Any possibility of an A2 style optic being offered that can fit on the new A3 receivers (or an A2 or A1 receiver for that matter) for the classic look of the original AUG? I'd love to see that come to market. |

Besides having great friends there I have always worked closely with Steyr Arms on all U.S. market AUG related items. Working hard with them to bring to market new and exciting AUG related products! I'm assuming your are referring to MSAR, I was never a co-owner. Pete Athens http://www.pjs-steyraug.com/auga3cqc14.jpg If I can't get my hands on an SF model, this is pretty much the setup I want, except with the integrated VFG. Any chance of this whole setup being available (CQC and whatever that scope is)? |

I'm a minimalist when it comes to "rails" on guns in general, and I consider myself sort of an AUG purist as I only own A1's... I would be interested in seeing the weight difference between the A3 and the A3 CQC (with same length barrel). I'm not sure how I feel about the CQC, honestly the SF is more appealing than the CQC. For a 9mm AUG, I would rather have an A2 or XS type receiver rather than the CQC or A3 receiver. Speaking for myself, I would want a small length lighweight receiver for the 9mm as I would put an aimpoint on it. It would also become a SBR, so the smaller the receiver, the happier I would be. XS: http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/smg/austria/1287828957.jpg A2: http://neo-tarakia.weebly.com/uploads/1/6/0/7/1607449/6694319.jpg?431 I like the short rail (first photo) offering this as an option with A3 with two QD sling swivels mounts in the end (front, either side) would be something I would be very interested in. |
