Looking for good suppressor options for the PS90 SBR. It will be a dedicated can for the PS90 so not looking to drop a huge amount of money. Was looking at 5.56 cans but they are pretty big/heavy for the PS90, I want to keep it compact and as light as possible. I have been researching various options but finding some conflicting information. Was looking hard at the AAC Halcyon but I watched a video where an AAC rep said it was good for the 5.7x28 pistol only. So what would everyone recommend for a can that can handle 5.7 out of the PS90? Barrel length is 10.4".

You want a rifle can, not a rimfire can. A 5.56 K can would be fine. I run an Omega with a 5.56 flat cap and a 1/2-28 DT adapter on mine. You could even run something like an Omega 9K.
The Griffin Optimus Micro might be worth looking at...but I'm not sure the diameter. |
|
I would think if it was good for a pistol length barrel that it would be GTG on a rifle. Usually the shorter barrels are tougher on cans. Most companies have a minimum barrel length restriction, not a max.
Anyway, I have a DA Mask, it is rated for the 5.7, no barrel restrictions. I haven't shot it with 5.7 yet, so I can't give you any feedback on that. |
|
I have to agree with Waylon, the Mask can handle it, but a 5.56 can should give much better performance and hold up better.

AAC Mini M4 or Saker556 K. If you go Saker, do not get the Trifecta "hands-free" mount. Choose an included direct thread, an AAC, or an ASR mount for a new Saker.

.22 cans are pointless on the PS90. As others have said, get a 5.56 can.

I use a Gemtech Shield on mine. I went that route because Gemtech makes a nice bi-lock flash hider that uses the standard threads.

Great responses. My reasoning for a rimfire can that was able to handle 5.7x28 was the size of it. The SBR PS90 is very light and compact so I really wanted a fairly inexpensive can for it that was also light and compact. A 5.56 can just looks big on it to me, but may have to look into one. Through more research I found Liberty makes a can called the Constitution that may fit the bill, also looking at the YHM Turbo. Time to look for some deals now.

I have two suppressed PS90s - one with a Specwar 556 and one with a Spartan 3. The Supra’s very well. I previously fired a buddy’s with a Sparrow and it was certainly light, but loud as hell comparatively. One option might be the new Griffin Micro 30, which is basically a slightly larger, high use rimfire can.

All Liberty cans are 25% off until February 14th. I ordered a Constitution last night, it cost me $250. Just a heads up.

My dealer gets his normal discount plus the 25% off that they're doing right now. I bought 3 cans, and they averaged out to 40% off. He ordered 11 different cans for various customers.

SF SOCOM mini on mine, my buddy runs an AAC Mini-4 on his... short fat cans look way better than any rimfire can you could put on there. An Omega 9k could work too if you want thread on. Maybe a Hybrid too, but that might be getting too fat.
Only thing I don't like is the SF flashhider is a little too long when the can isn't on. Supposedly you can shorten the tines and not have an issue with mounting. |

The Griffin Optimus Micro on their stealth mini Tapermount flash hider might be a good fit. Who knows what that sounds like on a 5.7, perhaps not much different than something like the Spectre II. I suspect something like the Obsidian 9 could handle 5.7 but I haven't seen any manufacturers rating for that. The Sandman K might also be a good candidate.

Since I never got around to buying a cheap Gentech Trek off gun broker. I am really tempted to buy a YHM turbo dedicated just to the PS90... or maybe a Sig if I wanted direct thread, and if they were on sale. Do kind of wish I ordered 2 omega 9k’s now when Radian had the on sale for $499 with a free sd raptor charging handle.

Innovative Arms Grunt mini is another direct thread option at 5” and 13.5oz

Thanks everyone for the input. Lots of good PS90/suppressor porn here. You all have talked me out of a smaller rimfire suppressor into a 5.56 suppressor. I have looked at a bunch of really nice 5.56 suppressors am I am leaning towards the YHM Turbo 5.56, mostly because of price and the really good reviews. I don't have a 5.56 can yet so this will work for my PS90 and AR's.

Have you considered the Gemtech SAR57? I't not short but it's light compared to 556 cans.

I eventually decided on an AAC M4-2000. Found a good deal on one, and wanted one for my AR as well. I think this will be a good can, and should be OK on the PS90. After researching available cans I realized I really need more $ for NFA toys, sucks to have to settle for just one.

The M4-2k mounts are compatible with the Mini4. When you save enough pennies just get a Mini4 and you won't have to get new mounts.

Not mine...but gonna put a 3-lug adapter when I get a chance. Too bad the 5.7x28 is too "hot" for the TiRant 9s...its a little longer than the Omega 9K...but much lighter. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/xy_U0Q0oMVX2U9yIcMTfGebbWjzNROceNXFwkILyOrEuUDe5x-5MnqHUut02gZV5yZmElEBMwUhPyyolsGDZB5_Arhz3jSMUq-vGD6FBUY6kNoM_kzXkZLA-b1GSSLxLQ-H9ipnPh7A=w1024-h768-no View Quote |

Is that what they are? I haven't looked at mine in forever. If so, AAC really won't warrant 5.7?!? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

It looks to be 1.2oz lighter according to mfr specs - 7.6 vs 8.8. I'm not sure I'd call that "much". |

I've used my SBR with several of my cans to include a Spectre II, TBAC Ultra 7 and an Octane 45. The Spectre II works well but the lower internal volume created a lot more blowback and on the PS90 it can cause the magazine to unseat every once in a while. The Ultra is great but the mount looks and is huge on the SBR. The Octane worked well with the factory 45 endcap and the fixed mount, it really shined tough when I replaced the endcap with a Griffin 22 endcap. I'm still looking for the ultimate suppressor for the PS90 and my 5.7 pistol. Optimal would be a lightweight, 1.25"-1.375" diameter 6"-7" can that can be broken down for cleaning. Volume is the key I think for the 5.7 cartridge.........now if someone just made this would be great.
Ray, if you're listening, a new TBAC Takedown 22 in a 1.375" tube would be AWESOME!!!!!!! |
