It looks superb!

How was it putting it together - Which Gen BRN-180 did you get and barrel length is that?

Gen2.5 16, kinda want the 18.5 honestly. The pins were super tight, needed a little mallet to tap them in, I’m sure they’ll ease up with use. The kit is really nice, they did a great job. Can’t wait to shoot it

As  I said befire, just a tough guesstimate on weight,  I would recommend emailimg the guys who make it to ask the wreighy of the build they had on display at the MK booth, I would imagine they know or can check.

The trigger had a crisp, metallic break to it. Kind of different, but nit bad. The reverse angle of the bottom of the trigger feels a little weird to me, but I understand why they did that with how the trigger bow has to swing in the space it is given. (To get the aesthetic they had to do a few clever things)

That's exactly what I want to do with it. My plan is to buy the rifle with iron sights and rock it like that for a while, but eventually switch to a Specter on a riser.
I'm really excited for this rifle. Does anyone know when we can actually order them?

Sign up for the email in stock alert and follow them on IG, they posted the day before the first batch hit the site. Sounds like the second batch will go live once they finish shipping the first batch out, so I’d imagine fairly soon

I suppose one could also have a barrel extension for 2 inches - The trick is finding one with a diameter that is close to what the barrel you have is.

My 18.5 upper arrived last night, I definitely like it better, added a BCM mod 0 grip too. I’ll probably buy the iron sights set set once it’s available, just to have the option and they look cool

No, but Cerakote holds up really well on grips.

I had one done about four years ago and it still looks new.

I just heated it up and sprayed it with Brownells OD green alumahyde, it matches pretty much dead on. I’ve used it on multiple BCM grips, holds up pretty well so far, usually buy them in fde, I haven’t tried covering a black one. Still surprised BCM doesn’t make them in OD

Got to an indoor range to test fire and check windage on the acog, really liking to feel of this kit, and the hg wasn’t bad as far as heat transfer, of course not like I could mag dump inside so I’ll have to see how that goes whenever I can get to an outdoor range. The trigger is actually pretty decent too

Looks like they don't make the 18.5" uppers anymore...  Cursory search on re-barrel for BRN180s sounds like that is no-go!

I will probably build one with the 16"  and hope for the 18+ to come back.

I REALLY want to build a L86 LSW!!!!

Can AKB-23 use a 16” BRN 180 barrel and still be legal in overall length or does a 16” barrel need NFA SBR stamp or pin & weld to make legal length?

You need the 18" barrel to meet the overall length requirement, or you can get the extended stock-cap thing if you have a 16" upper.

Or you should be able to pin a muzzle device to get it to a legal OAL

Or if I could at least get a picture of the front rail, from the front, so that I can see the clearance available for lights, that would help.

Actually, that helps a lot. I'm thinking that there will be clearance, but in the meantime, if anyone else can test fit, that would be great. Otherwise, I'll find out once mine gets here!
