Added a low profile MFI mount , and a Holosun 507 Comp on a scalarworks mount. I really like this combination. The mount isnt too high but still allows you to use the sights without cluttering the optic. The 507 Comp is pretty cool. Bigger than an rmr but still compact. Its like a mini Eotech. I believe thats the lowest they make for the RMR mount. Scalarworks makes a 1.42 but they don't list it on their site for the RMR. I think all of the Leap series allows you to see the iron sights regardless of which optic they're designed for. |

Attached File Attached File It's getting hard to hold onto the Knights rail given the sums they're selling for. Truly shocking but if that's what the market will bear, it is what it is. I have been hunting for a medium ff ras which is similarly unobtanium. |

Messing with configurations on my old coharie / special weapons build. Continues to run like a champ. I put the surefire light back on with the onyx arms adapter to run scout style heads. Huge improvement with the modlite legacy head, although I do love the lines of the older light bezel better. Can’t run the tri lug flash hider with this particular light head. Those of you that like to tinker with shit, and happen to have air tools or a dremel... The AP5 and the P both had some grit feeling when manually cocking. After cycling a bunch of times i could see wear on the cocking support, so i drove the roll pin out of the handle and slid the support out. I mostly just focused on the wear areas, but I hit it with some fine grit sand paper and hit it with the buffing wheel. I did the same to the friction area between the cocking support and the bolt, polishing the two faces. Result was a slick feeling when cocking, and the tight areas i was feeling are gone. My SD was much smoother, but there was still something. At first I thought it might be the carrier, but swapping parts around prooved it wasn't the case. So I finally pulled the cocking support, I didn't see any obvious wear telling me where it might be binding. I decided I'm bored, so i broke out a few different grits and sanded to a final 2000 grit along the entire piece. Then hit it with the polished until it shined. Cold blue to protect it, lubed and reassembled. All tightness and grit is gone when cocking. Not as obvious of a difference as it was with my other two, but it's there. So much more satisfying when running the cocking handle with my palm now.  Am i crazy? Probably, but damn it was worth it.

BLASPHEMY??? Attached File Attached File I used this and the end cap parts and recoil rod that came with the AP53. It’s actually kind of comfortable. It happened to be the only buffer tube/stock I had laying around not being used. Waiting for an optic mount I bought off the EE to arrive. Couldn’t use the optic mount that came with the gun because there was a hole in the bag and it was missing parts and replacement parts from Century are back ordered. |

 Opinions on sights and mounts. I have a couple thousand rounds through this now and the AP5p has been really good for me reliability wise. The only hiccup came from me reloading a 9x18 case without realizing it and had to tap that out of the chamber because the extractor couldn’t grip it. The one glaring thing for me is the height of the sights. I hate how low they sit and as a result I always feel hunched over. I want to mount a dot that looks over the hood. I am still torn between an ACRO to stay small or the new MRO sd. Any input on if I should go with a direct mount like the Titan or mount a rail then a scalarworks? |

IMO, the standard sights are really best with an A2 type stock. The B&T side folder emulates the A2 in ergonomics, albeit shorter, which is one of the reasons why they are so popular. |

As mentioned, the B&T folder is really suited for shooting irons but due to the short LOP, you'll still hunch down. Keep your current stock setup and get a taller RDS. I recommend the UTG Claw mount and a 39mm RDS height to clear the front sight hood. Here's a pic of one of my guns with the UTG mount and the Acro P2 on a 39mm mount

Meanwhile, got my MKE AP5 back. Barrel / cage are a little off as the barrel is tilted up a couple of degrees, just enough to notice, and stock is SUPER tight on the reciever and tight to deploy, so will have to break it in and wear the paint off. Otherwise pretty satisfied with it. Just need a B&T rail mount for the suppressor to mount a laser and take it to the range and see how it shoots. If I can get there tomorrow I’ll report back. For 3k all in, it’s not terrible for a childhood grail gun playing rainbow six on the computer in 1998…. 😅 Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Decent range day with the mp5 and mke ap5sd. The ap5sd unfortunately does NOT like 124 NATO. However, it grouped decent with the IMI 115 grain NATO and really liked the Federal Hydrashok 124 grain. Luckily the old beater special weapons MP5 clone continues to chug along and likes 124 grain NATO, so I’ll just have to remember that. Average speeds for both the 115 and 124 were around 870 FPS. The 124 NATO Winchester was a little hotter around 980 FPS.
