He will not answer that, he will deflect and resort to calling anyone in these threads a leg humper of Sig. Kind of sad really. He would only state that it was a test and it failed that test. Would be extremly helpful to expaint the what the purpose of that test is and what the test is trying to simulate what kind of force in a use case for the rifle. Its also a month old account with 600 posts so take that into consideration. |

My adventure in removing the factory flash hide. Started with a MAPP gas touch, got it got it good and glowing at the area ahead of the outer threads. Used a combination wrench… and nothing. Next tried the boiling method, again without any success. Time to break out the DeWalt 1/2 impact. After two ugha chuga’s, it spun off. Nice shooting! These rifles I think, like heavy stuff for accuracy and ball ammo gets better than avg results. Really, what the platform should deliver and it does ... now if we could get someone to release an adjustable gas plug ... that would be legit (one of my complaints is that it is overgassed) ... I am going to retrofit a TACCOM MPX recoil cushion (I use them on my MPX and MCX Virtus guns, MPX bumper matches the back of the Spear 308 bolt) ... won't help with overgassing but it will cut down the "feel". https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/Spear-308-Accuracy-Report/45-553596/ - truth be told, I don't have a bolt gun anymore ... this thing does what I need it to do ... covers a lot of basis for me. |

For giggles, I ran some 125gr Hornady Custom Low Recoil a few weeks ago and was blown away how well it shot. Albeit, was at 50 yards - but ran without any malfunctioning on both gas settings with the Sandman X. It was a bit quieter too.   " />

I'd rather have the forward assist than not have it though so given the current market the 308 just makes more sense but I want to try to get one of those newer rails. |
