I know! I almost waited for the FDE eotech exps3 as i like the circle dot riticle, but i just couldnt get past the weight and battery life of the T-1. I think i'm happy with it now. Looks like your 16s, and Stephen_101st's bred and then Travis Haley raped the offspring. I can dig it.

If you don't mind my asking what optic do you have on your SCAR17s?  Looks like a slick set up.

Thanks,

Looks great, but why 10.5" rather than actual CQC length?  Suppressor?

Cheers

Gemtech suppressor

Lynn

FWIW, the G5 will work with 10.0" barrel.

Cheers

To work with my 10.0" barrel I had to grind a 1/16th - 1/8th of an inch or so off the lower tab of the gas plug so that the suppressor would clear it while in the rear most position to lock in place.

Stephen

Will the AAC suppressors work with a 10 inch barrel?  I would imagine since that is what socom is using right?
Also, 10 inches is the true CQC length right?  What about the 14 inch?  is it really 14 inches or 13.8 like wikipedia claims?
Thanks.

The AAC cans will work with the 10.0 CQC barrel.  As far as I know,14.0" is the correct length, not 13.8".

The FNH-USA website lists a length of 14" even for the SCAR Mk16 "Standard".

The rail extension is an FNH that I got off of Gunbroker. I GunKoted it Dark Earth Brown.

+1

Thanks to this thread, I had to shell out another 350 on mine. Marvin should be shipping my barrel back sometime next week though if he isn't running behind

I love the thought of more rail space on the SCAR but it seems like the weight tradeoff would make the gun less enjoyable to carry. Let us know how convenient it is over the long run.

Try cutting the rail.  Someone gave me the idea and I went with it.  It does make a difference in feel.  I'll know for sure tomorrow at the range

VERY nice little family portrait there.  Do the run the Eotech way out there to avoid bustin' knuckles or do you just like the sight picture?  I prefer my optics more "mid-receiver" than that, so just curious.  What kind of can is that on the SCAR?

Running the optic way up front gives you a better field of view.

Yeah, I know that.  But it also puts the weight of the optic way out front, makes it harder to reach the controls, and make the optic more sensitive to head position.  Just curious what this particualr reason is.

Reason is 2-fold. Better field of view and my knuckles don't get destroyed. Has no noticeable effect on balance. The cmag does however

Suppressor is a YHM Phantom SS.  There is an SPR and TPS and FsN that didn't make this family photo. FN is good stuff

I disagree.  I find that by running the optic as far to the rear as possible my brain tends to "ghost" out the optic so that the red dot is the only thing that appears in my field of view.  When I run it farther forward like that there is a lot more that my eyes/brain can focus on and I have to hunt for the dot.

Different strokes, different folks. I tend to get tunnel vision with the CCO no matter where its mounted, but less so if its mounted forward. EOTech for me has an awesome window and field of view no matter where its mounted. Too bad all of my EOTechs have sucked their batteries dry just sitting in the safe and I couldn't trust them so I sold them, because I really like the FOV and the reticle.

Magic

It took a little modifying to get it to all mesh up but nothing complicated and it runs great. Just trim away some of the material out of the gap on the top back of the tower where the case heads touch. Look at the factory mag and cmag tower side by side at that place and you will see what I'm talking about

This would be my dream gun if:

- It was running a Micro T-1 on KAC mount.
- Laser moved closer to the middle of the gun, directly in front of the T-1.
- and the Surefire light/laser switch was on the top rail directly behind front sight.

Small changes... other then that i love it.

If the light and laser switch was in front of the laser how would you activate the laser without blocking the beam with your hand?

A couple  problems with that configuration:

1)  If the laser is further back and you wrap your thumb over the top rail, then you thumb will interfere with the PEQ.

2) If the the laser is further back, it will interfere with running the charging handle... though an angled charging handle (available later) might fix that.

If you run your thumb over the edge of the 9 o'clock rail, you can still get quite a bit of control.  It's not the like the SCAR needs control of muzzle rise. :)

Could be a right vs left shooting problem...

2)  Might be right on the charging handle but I run my Micro T-1 around the end of the charging handle.

In that photo he is not activating his PEQ 15. If he did in a low/no light setting, the IR splash on his hand would not be good for his NODS.
