Well. That would be interesting if true. Considering HS Produkt only makes 16.1 and 19.6, so 16 and 20 in guns for military use.

There was a reddit post claiming such, but the link went to a Springfield page requiring a log-in.

I think the interesting part is that the claim was made that the rifles would include an updated safety.

There is already a slightly redesigned safety on recently imported/made rifles.

Well sonofabitch.
Still like the Manticore one though. Just interested to see what options there are.

Edit: Springfield told me that they are not retrofitting Hellion rifles at this time. The customer service rep agreed with my stance on that, and hopes that it will be offered as either a retrofit kit, or as a service in the future.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I've never had much of an issue with the safety. Do people just not like that it's different from the AR or is it out of reach with different sized hands or something?

I am in the same boat ... now the rifle could use a magfunnel baaaaad but the safety is 100% workable.

A magwell, better trigger, and maybe a lengthened or more versatile handguard would be perfect.

The 20" looks great. The 18" should have a bayonet lug also, for those who want to use a longer muzzle device for suppressor mounting, but also want the ability to mount a bayonet.

It'd be nice just to be able to get some parts for the thing.  It's a very reliable rifle as it stands but still, I like to have some stuff on hand in the rare case it were to go down.

P.S.  We had A LOT of people sign up for in stock notification, and have not put all of the inventory on the webstore, so if it says "out of stock" overnight, don't worry, more will be listed by tomorrow (wednesday 8/16) morning.

Looks great, Sven!  Since the levers are screwed onto the axle, any chance of making a delete lever for the side you aren’t using?

I can see the advantage of your kit over installing the VHS MkII lever.

Getting their roll pin started and fully seated would be a nightmare!

They bayonet lug may have sold me on the 20" as well.

Anyone know if these will work with regular US bayonets? Or does it need a special bayonet?

Also are the 20" barrels Cold Hammer Forged? I recall reading the 16" ones were? But it's not listed in the ad copy.

Also, what torque value do you recommend for the screws?

I don't get it.  Isn't the reason for owning a bullpup is to have the most compact weapon with rifle caliber performance?  The compact size makes it suitable for vehicle operations, urban warfare, truck gun, home defense gun, etc.  16" bullpups are very compact for their bbl length and adding a suppressor will still keep it a more compact rifle than most other rifle platforms without a suppressor.  Yet, a lot of members here are very excited about going to the bigger 20 inch Hellion bbl. Now you're entering 32-34 inches OAL territory which in my opinion negates the major benefit of the bullpup platform and puts you back in to 16" AR territory.

I was very happy to have my 16" X95 but ecstatic when my shorter, 13 inch, X95 factory SBR was approved.

I still have and use 20inch AR uppers.  I like that I can have 20 inch barrel performance in a 16 inch AR package.  Don't get me wrong, I like the 16 inch bullpup for the reasons you stated.
I shoot mine more than my SBR AR.
