I'm toying around with the idea of filing a couple form 1s to see if I can make something similar. I'd be interested in any ideas on the best way to build it. The suppressor part is pretty straight-forward, but I'm not quite certain how to design the action. It appears in the movie that they are slapping the rear to fire them. If they are using their hands as the "hammer", it would seem like it would require some effort to pop the primer, but I'm honestly not sure. I found an old thread that appears to suggest @hrt4me was having one built for himself years ago. I'd love to see some pics if he is willing to post them. Not linking the scene because it contains images of the female form that may be considered objectionable under the COC. |

Figure an overall length of 14 inches with 4 inches of barrel, 4 inches of "action", and 6 inches of suppressor. It will end up a bit bigger than the movie prop, but will still pass for an air pump. |

Doing more research and found this https://www.reddit.com/r/NFA/comments/qatgll/bronze_zip_gun/ That uses a spring loaded trigger like a pen flare. I'm kind of fascinated by the idea of "slap rear to fire", but I can't find anything in real life that operated like that and I'm not sure if it would reliably pop primers. Attached File ETA another pic of the same FFLs work. Attached File ETA even more info https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2020/07/04/suppressed-pen-gun/ |

Do a search for guerilla shotgun, or slam fire shotgun. Its just a tube within a tube and an end cap. https://gatdaily.com/articles/the-richardson-guerilla-gun-the-story/ It really doesn't take much force to slam fire a zip gun. Or you could use an Altor pistol in 9MM or .380 with the threaded barrel as the base for your gun. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/pinterest--513621532513120290/ Now you have got me thinking. I have a 16" MP5 barrel sitting around that would be real good for a project like this. |

I was thinking doing it in a centerfire round, like .32acp, to make everything inline, no offset firing pin. I have ideas for the Munich gun but no time to work on it yet. |

I have a technical question regarding lengths to add to the NFA forms that I posted here: https://ar15.com/forums/Armory/Barrel-and-suppressor-length-for-integrally-suppressed-firearm-/17-562546/ Cross posting here in case anyone following those knows that answers. ************* I've been mulling over an intregrally-suppressed AOW project that is detailed here: https://ar15.com/forums/armory/Suppressed-bicycle-pump-gun-from-the-movie-Munich/55-561174/&page=1&anc=6263515#i6263515 This will be a gun with a tube encapsulating the baffles, barrel, and most of the firing mechanism. At the present time, I am envisioning a stack of M baffles slid into the tube, followed by a non-attached barrel, followed by a nesting tube that will house the firing mechanism, and that all held together with a rear cap. Just a simple diagram for example purposes: ------------------------ >>[ A | B | BS ] ------------------------ A= Action 3 inches B= Barrel 3 inches BS= baffle stack 6 inches >>= Trigger (for lack of a better word) 2 inches Total length of tube= 12 inches Overall length = 14 inches So, my question is what do I put on the AOW form 1 for barrel length? Would it be the 3 inch length of actual barrel, the 9 inch length of barrel + integral suppressor, of the 12 inch total tube length? And what do I put on the silencer form 1 for the length of the suppressor? Would it be the 6 inch length of the baffle stack, or the 12 inch total tube length? TIA! |

Originally Posted By Bravo_Six:Just so I understand you exactly, AOW form should list barrel as 3 inches and silencer form should list 12 inch OAL? If your barrel's 3" is per the ATF's measuring methodology, yes. The continuous tube makes up the silencer's entire length, yes. Doesn't look like the 26" rule comes into play so no real worry to be too nuanced. |

The plan was to use lower pressure .38 special loads, but .38 S&W might be an even better idea (assuming it can be chambered). If the ideas in my head work out, it will be a very cheap and simple build. However, I need to start working on parts before I see for sure if my ideas are going to work. I won't begin working on it until my forms are approved, so assuming I get them filed this week, I'll hopefully have the approvals and can begin working in late July or early August. |
