If you're going to go with the Antartica option, you know the one that's cooled down to the 40's with sub freezing waters and a thick plate of plexiglass so the people in your neighborhood can observe you then you're probably looking to add an extra 50-60% of the cost.

Serious answer is that it will depend on size and construction (gunite, fiberglass, vinyl). Also, excavation will get more expensive if you have any rock ledge.

Most of the pools going in around here are in the $100-200k range. I have a good customer right now that lives in a $1.5mil home and is moving down the street to another $1.5mil home, same homes (same development), but this one has a pool.
He said that it was going to be right around $100k for what he wanted, and the house for sale down the street had one way better than what he wanted (over $200), so he put his house on the market and bought the other one.

Mine went about $120K, but it's laid the fuck out. Lots of granite paver deck, hot tub, fountain, remote controls, pebble-tec finish, deep end, rock retaining wall, rock features and lots of landscaping. The sky is the limit depending on what you want..and what you can afford. Mine is about 40k gallons. $10K in fencing alone...don't forget shit like that.

You could just slip at Walmart while walking to the ammo case to fund this project. Guy down the street hasn't worked in 3 years but he just got a new pool with a grotto and a hot tub. He had a nice little slip and fall a little while back but now he dives in his pool with his kids.

Join a good gym/fitness club that has an indoor pool. You can use it all year round and not worry about maintenance.
