Megyn Kelly 'has told Murdoch's investigators she was also sexually harassed by Roger Ailes'http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3697882/Megyn-Kelly-told-Murdoch-s-investigators-sexually-harassed-Roger-Ailes.html The Murdoch family is reportedly moving fast to oust Roger Ailes as CEO of Fox News - and we may have just learned the reason why. Two sources briefed on the corporate investigation into Ailes told New York Magazine that Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly has joined Gretchen Carlson in accusing the 76-year-old executive of sexual harassment. Twenty-First Century Fox, Fox News' parent company, hired a New York law firm to investigate Ailes earlier this month, after Carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him. When it came time to interview Kelly, she reportedly told lawyers that Ailes made unwanted sexual advances towards her about 10 years ago, when she was working as a legal correspondent in Fox's Washington, DC bureau. The two sources say Kelly described this harassment in detail to the lawyers. The news is perhaps surprising since Kelly has described Ailes as a 'mentor' and a 'friend' in the past. But it wasn't altogether unforeseen. Kelly was noticeably missing from the group of female Fox News employees who were quick to defend Ailes in the media after the Carlson lawsuit. The move to oust Ailes is likely being influenced by Kelly's ongoing contract negotiation with the network. Kelly has previously hinted that she would be willing to leave the network, but as perhaps it's second most recognizable face behind Bill O'Reilly (who is eyeing retirement) - Fox won't let her go without a fight. News of Kelly's interview comes just a day after other sources told New York Magazine that Rupert Murdoch and his two sons, James and Lachlan, were gunning to push Ailes out of the company as soon as possible. The sources who spoke to New York said that lawyers for 21st Century Fox have given Ailes until August 1 to resign, or face being fired for cause. So far, Ailes team has reportedly not responded to the offer. Daily Mail Online reached out to 21st Century Fox for comment, but the company declined to comment on the most recent story about Kelly. That's a change from Monday, when they readily responded to the report that the Murdochs had decided to push Ailes out. 'This matter is not yet resolved and the review is not concluded,' 21st Century Fox said in a statement yesterday. James Murdoch is the chief executive officer of 21st Century Fox and Chairman of Sky plc., while his older brother Lachlan is the executive chairman of Nova Entertainment and the executive co-chairman of News Corp and 21st Century Fox. |

I really have wonder about these women especially Kelly who is an attorney. Gretchen kept their mouth shut until things did not go their way, and not a peep out of Ms. Megyn as she climbed the ladder at Fox. Then boom pile on time, and for Kelly it is right when her contract is in limbo, it just screams of being nothing more then a legal move to put pressure on News Corp.
I can picture Kelly saying I was just a newbie on Fox trying to make a career so like so many other women I had to tolerate the harassment to stay employed, but now that I have power I am in a position to fight for women's rights. |

View Quote 1. Roger is on his way out. It is now safe to pile on. 2. Since contract negotiations are ongoing, it puts pressure on Fox. Fox's lawyers are no doubt currently preparing a memorandum reminding management about the possibility of a Title VII retaliation claim if Megyn ends up walking. Retaliation is very broadly defined under Title VII, so it's not like such a claim would be absurd. 3. The optics for Fox are very delicate at this point. You don't want a headline "Ailes Out" followed by "Our biggest female star quits." 4. If Megyn does jump ship to CNN, etc., this gives her an "out" that makes her a hero. "Oppressed woman journalist leaves horrible evil Faux News" plays better than "Megyn leaves for more money." All in all props to Megyn. This is some Grade A corporate backstabbing. Well played Megyn, well played. |

The whole thing just smacks of a power play. Firing Ailes is bad for the network at this point. First, it is too soon. If the stuff was that obvious, they've just admitted to hostile work environment. If there is any doubt as to the allegations - and there appears to be a lot of room for doubt at this point. Then Fox has just shot this case in the foot. You can't say "Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury these allegations are bullshit but we fired they guy over them anyways." It's stupid. I think Murdoch's sons are using this scandal as an excuse to get rid of Ailes and put their own guy in. The talent (Greta, O'Reilly, etc.) know that Murdoch's sons are fucktards who can't run the company so they are out if Ailes is out. And as usual Megyn is only thinking of what is good for Megyn.

Its not harassment to not like someone, it is to treat them that way. People have a weird response to the word harassment. ha·rass·ment h?'rasm?nt,'her?sm?nt/ noun noun: harassment; plural noun: harassments aggressive pressure or intimidation. If he did the things she said (like belittling her contribution), that would be harassment. But growups can generally deal with such things. It is interesting that she suddenly became sexually harassed as soon as she got fired. View Quote Which part? The way he spoke to her or that she was shunned off work hours. Cos if it's "harassment" to not want to associate with someone ... that's silly. I don't care HOW they want to spin it, there's no legal requirement to want to spend time with someone you dislike. I can just see it now... "Bob, you have to eat lunch with Sally. Go out with her a few times. Stop avoiding her. That's sexist and harassment!" In all honesty I felt that part about "refusing to treat her as an intelligent and insightful female journalist" was silly. To me it smacks of "If you dislike her opinion you're sexist". Kinda like how triggered some women are getting over bad Ghostbusters reviews. You are REQUIRED to like their opinions and "contributions" and anything else is sexist and harassment. |
