Thats them, I have used the LPKs in the past and the quality is surprisingly good. I almost sprung for their enhanced trigger but I really like LaRues triggers.

Just got the email and shipping notice from Bear Creek Arsenal. Stainless steel barrel for $10. Plus they said in the email that Veterans will get an additional 10% off of future purchases . Aero Precision does the same thing but I can't afford their asking prices.

My two lowers came in today
Sorry for the poor picture, but I just have a non-smart phone. Attached File Consecutive serial numbers, and I put an LPK in one to test how difficult it would be. No real issues and the pin to hold the buffer detent and spring is sized 1/16". I jut cut down a 1/16" hex pin and pushed in place. A dab of blue loctite on either side and it is ready to go. The fit with the upper was great and there isn't any rattle at all. Not a bad deal for $20.
BTW, the receiving FFL told me that the push pins had come out of the lowers during shipment, and he found them in the box going through it for the paperwork, just a heads up if they are not in the lower. I'll have to glue a buttplate on it. I need to call GWACS next week to find out the price on buttplates, as it doesn't seem that Cav Mfg has any. He got lowers in various stages of assembly. Some had a complete lpk installed, w/ buffer, spring, buffer retaining pin, and buffer retaining pin - retaining pin, which he sold for $100 @ the shows a few years back, when the next closest complete lower was a Plum Crazy w/ plastic lpk for around $120. Those went relatively quickly. Some had no lpk, but had the buffer retaining pin and buffer retaining pin - retaining pin installed. I got one of those either for my wedding or in one of my 3 for $100 buys, and may have given that one to FW_wife's ex. As we see w/ SN 1, there are some w/ loose/stripped bolts in the butt, preventing installation of the buttplate - so some are missing buttplates. And then others are missing takedown pins, which are $10 shipped from Cav Mfg. We'll see if he'll do another sale, and what condition the remaining ones are in. I know he's kicking around ideas, he'd like to be shut of these before his next BATFE audit. |

| Really sad I was not able to get one but if anyone on the east side of DFW wants to part with one, let me know. I still have to build my first AR and I had one of the cav lowers years ago but had to sell it to cover my mother's medical expense before I could even get everything for the build. |

Looks like if you buy PSA’s pre Black Friday deal for $299 w/free ship with one of these lowers, that’s about $330 for complete rifle(including shipping and transfer fees). Also, you’ll have a few extra parts like a m4 waffle stock, buffer tube, castle nut, take down pins and A2 grip. | I picked my two up last night, non-consecutive serial numbers, and a different look between the two. One is very matte and the other has a bit of a shine to it. Of the four pins that came with them, one is longer than the other three. I think I ended up with a wrong pin, as the longer one seems to fit the front hole better. That being said, I checked fit on both lowers with two different uppers and am not sure the holes line up very well.I could not get both pins in on any of them, even with some pretty firm pressure. I stopped short of tapping them in with a little mallet. I am hoping when I get time later next week to really play with them and put them together that it works out. I will post pics of the finished products. |

I got bamboozled at the FFL today. I was told that if I got one item, the transfer fee would be $25, but if I went with more than one, it would be $15. I went in to pick up my three lowers and paid $35 each and our state charges a $7.50 background check fee, but this guy took it upon himself to charge me the background check fee per lower, which came out to $22.50 even though only one background check was performed, then he charged me tax on top. Total out the door cost including lowers was $223.24 So these ended up costing more than aluminum lowers, but I don't care, I'm still happy because I secretly always wanted one of these lowers and now I have three. The lowers themselves kind of look like shit. They're all banged up, the screws that hold the buttplate in are rusted as fuck, the takedown pins keep falling out of two of them, and the trap door on one of them won't stay closed. Despite their flaws, I refuse to have buyer's remorse, so I'm still happy. My plan was to go cheap with the bear creek uppers, but what's the point? I already have a bunch of ARs, there's no sense in building a cheap one just for shits and giggles. I got three uppers from a different LGS for $50 each, I'm getting a Grendel barrel for one, hopefully a 6mm-.223 (6x45mm) for the second, and not doing anything with the third. |
I rummaged through the spare parts bins and found two bolt catch assemblies, some random 7.62x39 barrel & BCG (couldn't find a gas block or tube though  ), a 300 marked CH, some no name upper with blocked off forward assist, the biggest F'n rear sight I've ever seen, and one of those $20 Walmart red dots from the RARpocalypse thread we had last year.Upper and lower fitment is tight. I think it'll take Herculean strength to separate the receivers. The bolt catch roll pin went in without tools, so hopefully it doesn't fall off while firing. I'll order some legit parts for the other two after black Friday. Can't wait to go shoot them, they're really lightweight. Attached File Attached File |

Okay guys so Lowe's didn't have any roll pins that were the right size so before ordering online I looked around the garage and came up with a 15ga nail. Any reason to think this won't hold up? I probably wouldn't have considered it except the member above mentioned improvising. Attached File |

Got my five and put one together tonight. Compared to my old Cav Arms lower, they are a bit rougher in the fit and finish department. I had to file the bolt catch recess a bit as the bolt catch was sticking and the FCG pocket seems a little tight and took some effort to get the FCG in. It's binding a little bit but hopefully it will smooth out with some use.
Still, not bad for $20 apiece and nice to have an FFL who will do everything on one NICS check for $20. So do we call in on Black Friday (the ad says they are open Black Friday) for the deal or the day after (since your text said "no orders will be taken untill after black Friday.")? |
